I don't know what the hell your talking about. 2012 team? means nothing to me or anyone else for that matter.
It means that youre referring to teams of te past not the present. You do research but you no do research? Lol
You Marshall folk sure seem to have an axe or several to grind.
My research says that your football program is a joke.
Lol.

So how much of that 31K in attendance actually belonged to Appy St fans? Give us a number.
Uh it's not broken down that way. If you want it you go and get it. I'm not doing your research for you.
LOL!!!
you don't like the answer you got, so you change the parameters LOL
If you can't digest 31k over a 23k average then you need help.
I didn't change anything. I just asked you for a LEGITIMATE MUMBER. And you won't give it, because when it's all said and done, having Appy St come to your stadium once every two (2) years is still mouse nuts, and Not a difference maker. And that's where we started this silly argument. I also said that if they mean that much to you, you could just play them in a H-H series. But I guess my suggestion makes too much sense. You'd prefer to day dream about stuff that will never happen.

Isn't that how CUSA is set up now? Everybody in the East plays everybody else in the East, with a couple of crossover games thrown in for fun.

As far as I can tell, UAB is positioning itself to move to the AAC should a spot open. If that doesn’t happen, my guess is we will do everything we can to stay in a conference with WKU, MTSU, Marshall, La Tech, and Southern Miss. A conference filled with schools east of the Mississippi and those teams as a foundation is a great start to realignment in my opinion. Anything that goes truly east or west puts UAB in an odd spot, as they are a fringe school geographically for either.
Thanks.
That's actually insightful about the La Tech/Southern Miss part.
I wonder if part of the reason ODU/Marshall/Charlotte didn't gain much traction is because of the fact that those three would prefer WKU, MTSU, UAB and ONE OTHER; which would sever a tie for UAB to the other, and that put you squarely in the "Yeah, why don't we stick it out rather than make a bold move with some risk."
I would think that if push came to shove, and MTSU/WKU were on board with those other three... UAB would kind of have to go.

More ticket and concession sales with regional rivals. Better media deal.
LOL! I haven't seen anybody mentioned here for your new conference that's going to bring Marshall more ticket and concession sales, or a better media deal. Pipe dream.
App State and Ga So would both sell more tickets for us than La Tech or any of the Texas schools.
Again, you're still talking about "mouse nuts". For goodness sakes, DO THE MATH! You MIGHT sell 1K to 2K of game tickets to visiting fans from App St and GA So ONCE EVERY OTHER YEAR!! That's NOT a lot of money. At an average ticket price of $30 per ticket X 2K game tickets = 60K per year. And that's IF they really bring 2,000 fans from southern Georgia.
That's what they'd gain. Maybe not much. What do they lose that's as significant as that though? If it gains them ANY money and they lose nothing of value, why not?

RE: Marshall and ODU pushing for CUSA split?
In the CUSA archives, there's a 5 year soccer thread that's 439 pages long, but like the current soccer thread on this board, it's a running multi-season thread....
The infamous Carrot Thread is 57 pages.
Still a way to go...

Personally I would rather have a tighter geographical conference with 10 teams. Eliminate the divisions and play a 9 conference game schedule. It would allow for teams to still get a buy game or two plus an easier fcs team at home. That would create rivalries quickly and would drive interest.
My preferred conference would be:
MTSU
WKU
Marshall
App St
UAB
Troy
ODU
Liberty
CCU
GA Southern
For a post season basketball tournament they could do a central location at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum. It holds roughly 6500 people and would be centrally located for that group of schools. Or host it on campus but I know a lot of people like the central location sites.

I could live with this make believe conference. I do like a presence in FL however so maybe swap out Troy for FAU. I also think Char needs to be in here as well.

I notice that most easterners would want Appalachian State in their make believe conference, and I don't blame you. That tells me they're a candidate for AAC backfill.

I thought about having Charlotte in over Troy but as an MTSU fan I’d prefer the Troy rivalry. I like Charlotte and wouldn’t mind them coming along. I really like FAU (debated about going there for grad school) but they would be a massive outlier.
