The Rubber Bowl, Akron OH

The Akron Zips haven't played in the Rubber Bowl since 2008. After 13 years it's a 1/4 tore down and abandoned.

Wishful thinking. Although I did get into the 1998 Akron game at Akron for a 5 dollar donation to their Salvation Army and 2 cans of corn.

That was expired corn right?

It was from Sav-a-lot or maybe even Big Lots. I remember it was generic branding. Should have taken canned pickled corn. 04-rock

Did you ever attend a game at Fairfield Stadium before it was expanded in 1970? It was in horrible shape.

I sure did but not before 1970. I remember the 80's... Tailgating in the baseball fields across the brick street from the stadium. I once got to be the ball boy when we played Western Carolina. That day I learned a lot of new words thanks to Sonny Randle.

That’s funny. Kinda like the silverdome in Pontiac MI. When i think about a MAC game- A cold weekday night with about 500 bundled up hardcore fans in the stands, and a bunch of trash blowing around in the end zone.

Can you imagine trying to recruit some Florida kids and telling their parents that they can come and watch in Toledo in November LOL

Since I was born in Dec of 1971, that would be a hard no.

I was in Fairfield though and can remember being jealous of some of the stadiums in the SoCon at the time. Looking back on it now they were just as bad as Fairfield, they just looked more aesthetically pleasing.

If Judy is allowed to decide the exit fee it will be 16 AA batteries per team to power her toy Jeep

I thought that thing takes 9 volt. And hearing aid batteries for the lights.

I do find it strange that a reporter from a small town Virginia newspaper would know a high ranking employee at MU.

This is true in some rare cases. But most anonymously sourced articles at the WP and NYT are typically very reliable. Their standards are incredibly high and typically have more than one source sometimes dozen of anonymous sources.

If you think the NYT and WaPo have integrity then you are incredibly high.

So, Marshall is supposedly pushing for split, but their FB coach is talking about the A10 route. Which smoke leads to the real fire?

I think it was the basketball coach. I think he told a fan he had heard the Atlantic 10 rumor. My guess is, the coach reads the message boards like the rest of us?

I hope our coaches have better things to do than read message boards
