They’re already considerably behind the other power conferences when it comes to TV revenue per school, if/when Texas and OU join the SEC and the B12 loses its power conference status, that gap will widen.

Everyone is speculating about the Big 12 leftovers, but do any of them make sense for the Pac-12? If you’re going to divide the TV revenue up 2-4 more ways, you’re going to need schools that will justifiably add $30M+ per year each to your negotiating ask. So who’s the most valuable B12 media property of the leftovers…Tech? Kansas? OK State? All three are pretty incongruent with the current Pac members ideologically; in the end money talks, but how much will the Pac presidents be willing to sacrifice their identity just to add schools that aren’t a great fit on the surface?

On the flip side, can the Pac afford to stay at 12 teams that are all located in the Mountain/Pacific time zones in this shifting landscape of college athletics?

I get some schools wont be thrilled with sharing a conference with TCU and Baylor, but Idon't know how you can pass up the chance to get your conference TV networks in Texas markets. Same for the ACC.

This is the most interesting question imo. The B1G is unlikely to do anything.

Kansas and either ISU or Tech to the PAC. Gets them in the central time zone, which helps them prevent the 9 am games that they played last year. Their new commissioner is from media, and likely understands this.

ISU and Tech are MUCH more ideologically congruent with the PAC than Baylor is. Baylor and Berkeley will never be in the same conference.

Lizzo will run a 4 minute mile before the Pac-12 invites Baylor. I don’t know how strong the Pac-12 presidents’ aversion to private religious schools actually is, but TCU isn’t nearly as rigid as Baylor and is located in a major metro.

Nothing. They are fine how they are setup.
No need to expand for expansion sake or to follow other conferences expansion.
They are in a unique position geographically. If they for expansion sake without concern about money they can add Hawaii, New Mexico or a Nevada school.

I don't see the ACC, Big 10, or Pac 12 making any adds assuming the SEC adds Oklahoma and Texas as expected.

Houston might be a much better attraction to the PAC 12 than Baylor. Much easier to fly into, and Houston city limits do match cultuarally as a liberal city like the west coast schools.

Does that make Buffalo a much better attraction to the Big 10 as an academics school in stand point? They could be a doormat in football for a while, but their basketball could start winning right away.

There are some rumors on Twitter that The Big Ten is talking to some PAC schools trying to make its own splash. A Minnesota fan… I’m not sure if this guy is connected or full of crap.

ISU, Kansas, TCU to the PAC

ISU is an AAU member and has the 3rd largest football stadium in the Big 12 behind Tex and Ok. In terms of fan support, Iowa used to be way ahead of ISU but that gap has narrowed over the years and a lot of Iowans will watch either school on the tv.

Kansas is also an AAU member and brings the basketball blueblood status.

TCU brings the Dallas area and is a top school academically.

That just leaves TT, OkSt, KSU, Baylor, WV, to rebuild the Big 12. At that point the Big 12 could add Hou, SMU, Cincy, Memphis, USF, UCF, BYU

None of the B12 leftovers would add anything close to $30 million in value. Even if the PAC members were willing to dilute their own revenue stream, geography would still cause more problems for the PAC than it fixes. I don't see them doing anything.

That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if some B12 schools tried to upgrade from their now diminished status by asking the PAC to take them in. I just think they would be rejected.

“IF” Texas and Oklahoma are gone...and I put odds out that is very likely...the only school that could move that could move the needle is Southern Cal...can’t be really happy with what going on in the Pac 12

I’m not sure what if anything has changed but Kansas, Kansas State and Iowa State reached out to The Big East a few years ago when it looked like Texas, Oklahoma and a few other Big 12 schools were jumping to The PAC. Of course that didn’t happen but its curious that Kansas made that call.

I can remember Jurich openly talking the possibility of The Big East adding those three programs.

What are the chances they are reaching out to The American now

Would the AAC try to poach Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State and Missouri State to be a much bigger stronger conference for a much better tv contract? MWC could add the remaining Big 12 schools but West Virginia too boast their status.

Big 12 is dead.
West Virginia go crawling back to the AAC.

Move the AAC and MWC as a Power Status to keep the schools left behind from losing their status of power. Politics are involved with Oklahoma and Oklahoma State involved.

Big win? Those two schools rank #8 and #9 out of 10 Big 12 schools in conference play over the past ten seasons. Who would be watching them at any hour?
