Well I am too.
I noted that the fans making comments are none too happy with him.

RE: This guy is picking UC over ND
Pretty amazing for a ND site. Perhaps just as amazing to see at a ND site is this article by a different writer:
Notre Dame football: Isaiah Foskey to have Myjai Sanders-like production
Of course the Freeman switch gives it context. But it's still pretty amazing to see ND writers speculating that one of their players could end up being comparable to one of ours.

RE: This guy is picking UC over ND
Notre Dame has the most pessimistic fanbase in CFB.
It's a really odd attitude. ND grads think they deserve to win the national title every year. So if they don't have a team good enough to be #1, their fans think the team is awful. So their fans (the graduates, not the T-shirt fans) consistently underestimate how good they actually are.

We did get a typical P5 quote in the article:
"If everything breaks right, and the Bearcats go undefeated, they hypothetically might get considered for the Playoff."
Will the Bearcats get into the playoffs? They might, hypothetically, be considered (not really, but let the little guys dream).

If everything breaks right, and if I marry Melissa Gates on the rebound, then I might hypothetically get rich.
But only if Melissa doesn't insist upon a pre-nuptial agreement, my wife of 56 years doesn't get in the way, there's a star in the East, and I live long enough, etc.

Not to burst your bubble, but you might also want to call her Melinda, otherwise I think that will be a deal breaker

Being smarter than Bill she will get a pre nup. Shocked that Bill did not have one as his father was lawyer with Seattle firm Gates & Bogle who TSH set us up with as co counsel on a case in Walla Walla WA years ago.

Our lead attorney has a Heekin (Brian) with Taft Stittinus and Hollister. You may recall the family from Heekin Can Co. and the infamous owners for many years of Riverfront Coliseum.

RE: This guy is picking UC over ND
I doubt most Notre Dame fans realize how talented our squad is. We have 4 guys likely to get drafted in the first two rounds, and another handful who might go in later rounds. We have one of the best DB and TE groups in the country, along with a QB who could be a Heisman finalist, a front 7 who matches up with all but the Alabamas and OSUs of the world, and plenty of good playmakers between Ford, Young, and Pierce. The difference between 12-0 and 10-2 is going to come down to our offensive tackles. That is the only question mark on this roster IMO.

I think Notre Dame fans are more educated than you think.
However, their standards are much higher. They consider "4 1st and 2nd round draft picks" to be decent talent.
Notre Dame has had 21 NFL draft picks in the last 3 years, 6 of which were 1st or 2nd round. And their fans think those were "decent" Notre Dame teams. All you hear from ND fans is how they got b*tchslapped by every top-10 team they've faced (which isn't strictly true; they narrowly lost to Georgia in 2019).
They honestly think they have not had a "good" team since 1992 & 1993. Their 1992 team had 7 first round draft picks (4 in the '93 draft and 3 the next year).

Good point. Notre Dame fans are a bit of a miserable bunch in that regard, although I get it. As consistently good as they've been, they are still chasing their past in terms of measuring success. If/when Marcus Freeman becomes their next head coach, I think they can win a natty or two. He already has OSU's attention as Notre Dame's best recruiter. He got a commitment from a guy OSU wanted, and they talked about it on all the local talk shows up here in Columbus. I've told my in-laws up here who are OSU fans they made a huge mistake in bringing back Coombs as DC instead of stealing Marcus from us, but they love Coombs so much they are unable to remove their blinders.

Just to round out the DC story, supposedly OSU did try to steal Freeman from us but they tried to demote (in terms of title) our DC to position coach with them. Rumor is the Freeman was kind of irked/insulted/disappointed at the time and obviously didn't take the job despite a likely higher salary.

Bill Gates, Sr. was with Preston, Gates & Ellis (now K&L Gates), not Bogle & Gates (now Perkins Coie).

Pretty dumb move on OSU's part. Freeman is a better coach and recruiter, plus he's 25 years younger. I'm just grateful we had him as long as we did.
