Staying in Birmingham advice
Hey guys. I have to make a quick overnight stop near Birmingham on my way to Destin, Fl in July. Is the Country Inn in Homewood in a decent area? Ill have the wife and baby with me. Looks like a convenient stop off and reasonable price if not in a bad section of town. Thanks in advance for any intel.

That's the one next to John Carroll I think. Yes that's a decent area - there is a cookout across Lakeshore for some late night food as well.

Yep, that's a good area. Right behind Lowes. I'm there just about every weekend for something. That area is where numerous stores are for homewood/vestavia/southside area. Can't really speak for hotel though. There are sevwral in that lakeshore area.

I'd have no problem staying there. Busy area. Walmart, Sam's Club, Lowe's, several restaurants all at that exit.

There is also a Starbucks opposite McDonalds across Lakeshore Parkway. Don't eat at IHOP nearby though; their service sucks!

Yummy Bowl there is pretty good for an all you can eat type thing. Think Gengis Grill if you've ever eaten at one. Lots of options to eat in that area around Lakeshore/Wildwood/Green Springs Hwy

I miss me some Ghengis! Food was great and they had some killer drinks of the alcohol variety.
