“The Pandemic” is false
I have 16 aunts and uncles spread throughout the US. Another 25 or so cousins with 20 some odd kids between them. None have gotten the chinese virus.

Of the people I know, one of my buddies got the china flu and ‘recovered’ within a day. None of my other friends ever showed symptoms (all 30-50).

I know of two people who died of it. Both were my mom’s friends parents, one who was 100plus. The other was 95 or so. Both were in nursing homes.

Fauci should hang.

RE: “The Pandemic” is false
Except for the fact that the deaths from all causes skyrocketed from 2019 to 2020. There were 500k more deaths in 2020 than 2019. Deaths from all causes rose more from 2019 to 2020 than it did from 2000 to 2019. In 2000 there were 2.4M, in 2019 there were 2.85M so 450k growth in deaths from all causes over a 20 year period. 2019 to 2020 jumps from 2.85M to 3.35 with a growth of 500k additional deaths comparing a one year period.

In the last 21 years the largest year over year change was 3%, then 2019 to 2020 is a 17% jump in deaths from all causes. Awful lot of dead people all the sudden from a fake pandemic.

I had heard some arguments made that previous flu years were fairly mild, and potentially some of the increase in 2020 deaths could possibly be attributed people that would have normally not made it through 2017-2019 did so, and 2020 was the regression to the mean. No data or sources to quote, but an interesting theory.

Personally while I know the illness is real I seriously doubt that it ever reached pandemic levels. What it did do though was to show how easily the masses can be controlled when the threat of a boogeyman is hyped up by the media and one political party.

The worldometer shows that just over 1% of the population of the U.S. have died across the globe. The survivability rate is right at 2.39%

Deaths:
3,728,510
Recovered:
156,116,460

Some pandemic.

No data or sources to quote, but an interesting theory.

In terms of excess deaths 2017 - 2018 flu season was relatively severe, there are about 8 weeks that exceed the excess deaths threshold. 2018 - 2019 and 2019 - 2020 were pretty mild with no weeks that exceed the excess deaths threshold. A couple of mild flu seasons could kick up the flu vulnerable population and increase deaths going into 2020, but that wouldn’t account for 500k people.

If ai have time later I may pull the age bracketed numbers from 2019 and 2020.

I the deaths from all causes data from 1980 to 2019 looks pretty much like the 2000 to 2020 I posted above. The largest year over year percentage change is around 3%. So 40 years of data with nothing bigger than 3.x%, then 17% jump from 19 to 20.

Yeah, strange year for sure. Number of voters in 2020 jumped by 22,000,000 more than had ever voted before. Odd year.

Would the OP be true with zero mitigation efforts? I think not. While I believe it was overhyped and we overreacted in a lot of ways...I believe the threat was real. Its becoming more and more clear this was developed in a lab and developed to KILL people. With no mitigation it likely would have been serious pandemic.

Yeah, developed to kill people, and yet with a 99.8% survival rate. *Yawn*

I don't believe this, but if it came out years later that it was developed to kill off elderly and those with health conditions that cost socialist systems tons of money, I wouldnt be shocked.

RE: “The Pandemic” is false
I agree with the OP in that the term "pandemic" in this case is BS. I've known only a handful of people that have gotten it. I always pictured a "pandemic" being something that was so bad that you were lucky if you didn't get it.

I've known one person who's 80 that got it. Got over it with no problem.

I know one person who's 75 and morbidly obese that got it. Same thing.

The remaining 10-15 people that I know that got it were all under 60 and the worst I heard from any of them was body aches and mild nausea... mostly like any other flu.

As I've said many times before, the sh!t hit the fan and everyone started panicking on March 12th. I was in jam packed HS gyms at playoff basketball on March 5th and March 7th shoulder to shoulder with people all breathing on each other and nary a mask in the place. I knew probably 50 other people at those games too when this was supposedly spreading like wildfire and NONE of us caught ANYTHING.

So I hope you'll excuse me if I don't buy into the hysteria over what has seemed to me to be nothing more than a flu bug. Yet I turn on the TV and hospitals are being overrun and infections are going through the roof. Really?

RE: “The Pandemic” is false
We have to keep this stuff in perspective imho. The Spanish flu (H1N1) infected 500m people and 50m died from it. It was a world wide disaster. The H1N1 pandemic of 2009 infected around 700m but had only 284,000 deaths. Obviously much of the improvement in survivability of basically the same virus was due to mitigation and modern medicine. Much of the reason we are questioning the severity of Covid is due to mitigation efforts and modern medicine that allowed for recovery from it. That does not mean it wasn't serious. Left alone without mitigation and modern medicine it would likely have been as serious as the Spanish flu. Did we go overboard with the mitigation efforts? Yes..I believe we did and much of our efforts were simply window dressing and not really effective. Imo..the medical community needs to review all of this post pandemic and come up with reasonable mitigations for the NEXT one. Hopefully mitigations that will not completely shut down economies while saving lives at the same time.

I know lots of people, virtually none of whom social distanced, virtually none of whom wore masks beyond the occasional “have to”, virtually none of whom got sick, and not ONE of them went to a hospital or died. Am I and the people I know just the luckiest SOB’s in the world? Believe what you want and I’ll do the same.

Mitigation my foot.

I disagree. We had/have therapeutics like hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin that can be used to treat and defeat this. There was NO need for anybody to take a "vaccine" for it. ONLY THE CENSORING by the leftist media and denouncement of these therapies (because Trump mentioned them) caused the masses to clamor for a vaccine that is NOT a vaccine at all but an experimental shot.

Covid was/is a cold or a flu. Never before has a country gone so overboard in the response to such a thing. The medical establishment has lost the trust of many in this country and the wound is self inflicted.

Your response above shows me that you don't get that all of science has now been politicized, including the medical community. They won't learn a darn thing from this, as the medical establishment is now woke. That genie won't go back into the bottle.

Are the people of this country so hopelessly lost that they dont feel uncomfortable with the incessant government and corporate media propaganda including bribes using lotterys and promises of free stuff including beer to convince people to take an experimental vaccine?

It all completely baffles me. Seriously. People have become convinced to trust the government.

Masks aren't here anymore "if you're vaccinated." I'd say majority of people in the stores aren't vaccinated, but I think MI is only 50-70% vaccinated. I'd expect a spike in cases, as those not vaccinated are now free, but we're not seeing that....
