But would you vote for a candidate who was? Say Bernie Sanders against Donald Trump, how would you vote?

I think he answered that.

Why? What is so terrible about Donald Trump?

I would have voted for anyone against Bernie, and did vote for Hillary against him in the primary (and Obama, for the record). Why? Because he is a self-proclaimed socialist.

I remember telling a leftist friend of mine, after Watergate, that I would still have voted for Nixon over McGovern (I actually voted for John Hospers/Toni Nathan). She said, "Why I'd vote for an ape in the zoo against Richard Nixon." I replied, "So would I. But he wasn't running against an ape in the zoo. He was running against George McGovern."

FOOL’S ERRAND

Allow me to go on a rant.

It's a fashionable car to own, ESPECIALLY in liberal cities where the COL means that people there have the income to buy these cars. And because it's a big liberal city that loves to tax and spend, there's electric charge points typically immediately next to handicapped parking in all major public parking infrastructure.

The grid can't handle that in several places. And Biden wants to stop further fracking and natural gas buildout which would be the "duh" source of that power otherwise. Tesla themselves have buildout superchargers spaced strategically along major interstates to try to help you traverse long distances in a Tesla. But it's still for a long trip somewhat limited, particularly out west. You're not going to go driving around and exploring in a lesser national park for a week in a Tesla, let's put it that way.

Teslas haven't been around long enough yet for the economics to have come full circle for the owners and especially the secondary market. That battery pack has a lifespan. And it's roughly a decade. The more you supercharge it, the less the lifespan. The cost of replacing the battery pack once installed is the cost of a *nice luxury* used conventional car. Think BMW certified used. That's not it either. If you though BMWs and Mercs got really expensive to own due to cost of parts and maintenance in their older years, wait until you find out that you can only service a Tesla at a Tesla dealership for anything beyond brake pads and tires pretty much. Got a body panel screwed up in a parking lot and need a new panel? Dealership. Interior item broken? Dealership. And so on. And your nearest Tesla dealership is real close right? Like I can throw a dart into Oklahoma and there will be a Ford and GMC dealer somewhere in a 30m drive. I'm sure Tesla has the same coverage right? Riiiggghhtttttt?

And Teslas suffer the same dumb*** problems every other car does that was designed on a computer and then produced without actually testing serviceability in the field from non-employees first. Observe:

A Tesla is almost certainly a much much higher TCO than a conventional car, even a really nice luxury import conventional car. It may not even be more environmentally friendly by the time you've actually sourced the carbon in the grid used to power it and the immense amounts of carbon used to mine, produce, move through logistics chains, refine, ship, and install a Tesla battery.

Tesla is merely expensive fashionable consumption like Apple. That can be immensely profitable. That can be a generational stock. But for more discerning customers it doesn't move the needle. The conventional automakers already have autopilot systems that are getting pretty comparable to Tesla. The conventional automakers are making large EV lineups. They will greatly alleviate many of these problems.

They're good enough for some people, particularly short to moderate daily commuters who have supporting infrastructure. Doesn't move the needle here.

Y'all need to take a look at Rivian trucks. They raised $3 billion and took over an old Mitsubishi plant in Illinois.

Rivian has already started producing electric delivery vans for Amazon.

They're starting full-scale production of their electric truck this summer. It's a real truck designed in Michigan, not a Californian's fantasy.

Apple may not have invented the computer or the MP3 Player or first tablet but I cannot imagine those products becoming as popular as they did if it wasn't for apple's versions of them.

strip mining by Chinese companies to extract the resources necessary to build all these electric cars and batteries is wonderful for the environment.

Not to mention the disposal of these batteries when they reach the end of useful life.

Another example of Intellectual Dishonesty.

You should develop a more robust imagination. The Rio PMP300 was around most of a decade before the iPod. The Sansa was terrific and was around years before the shuffle. MP3 players died because smartphones replaced them. And I still remember how garbage the iPods were for years. Oh yes -- let's put a spinning hard drive inside the MP3 player I'm jogging with. Let's just recreate that whole CD skipping problem but this time in a way that permanently destroys the storage device.

I think Ive owned at least a dozen Apple products. Never had a single quality issue with any of them...including this computer Im typing this on that is over 15 years old and is still fully functional for my home use. This thing was way overpriced when I bought it for my daughter..but..I have to say it was a good investment now.

If Tesla can make as quality of product as Apple then it will flourish. If not? Well.

I never said that Ipod was the first. I only said it was the most popular.

I'm sure there are other products that are just as good and maybe even better. That's not the point.

The point is that Apple makes products that consumers like and are willing to pay big money for. It has very little to do with who was first or even which product is better.
