At least we're showing some life to get it back to 10-6.

3-1, UTSA. (The batter seeking medical attention. He was hit on his back, near his lead/left shoulder. After a few minutes, he jogged to first base.)

(UTSA has forgotten about Rice's run.)

No official ABs yet for USTA!

Larzabal is up in the Rice bullpen.

Zaskoda and Gallant haven't had an even mediocre outing since the 2nd week of the season. They've been consistently awful. And Greenwood hasn't been much better. None of them can throw strikes.

10 free passes, 2 wild pitches, 2 errors in 6 innings. Good grief. Back to playing Little League.

Rice loses the nightcap 12-6.

Gallant wasn't bad today (3.2 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 0 ER), but you'd have to think UTSA was kind of going through the motions late in the game.

In Sunday’s game 4, it’s scoreless going to T4. Owls have been out hit 4-1 thru the 1st 3 innings.

Owls break thru with a run in the 4th - up 1-0. Rice has a chance to not be last in the CUSA West if they can win today and UAB loses to Middle Tennessee.

Garcia pulled in the 5th after and E6, single, bunt single. Brogdon in for the Owls. Bases juiced. Nobody out.

And promptly gives up 2 rbi double on his second pitch. Sigh!

And follows that with a walk and WP to make it 3-1. Still no outs.

Brogdon gets a K and then gives up a 3 run HR.

UNBELIEVABLY BAD RELIEF PITCHING.

We've given up way too many big innings this year.

That chance just evaporated barring an unlikely comeback.

Epic AB by Gneiting with 1 out in T6. With a 3-1 count, he fouled off 5 consecutive pitches. But, unfortunately, he hit his 10th pitch weakly back to the pitcher. Sigh.

I hope the conference will use the UTSA video/stats folks' record for this series:

T7: Hughes is the 2nd out ... after an ankle-high 2-2 pitch is called strike three. Grrr.

Can someone, anyone explain why Roel was pulled so quickly? Yes, the first three guys reached base (on an error, weak single and bunt), but it's not like he was being hit hard or missing the strikezone, and his pitch count was only at 50. And it sounds like, as usual for Bragga, Brogdon was rushed in without ample time to warm up properly. The net result-- double , walk, HR...game essentially over.

As I've said before, every game is groundhog day for Rice Baseball. Deja vu all over again. We never learn.

Bulman!!!

3-run homer makes it 7-4, one out in T8.

Yay!!!

But 2 flyouts end the inning.

Hold 'em ... then complete the comeback??

That's not a reason to yank Garcia, who was pitching well (albeit not overpowering by any means). If Brogdon was healthy why the heck did he not start the 2nd game yesterday?

Agree unless it was a health issue with Roel. Obviously pure speculation on my part.

Garcia did "pitch" on Friday in the sense he had warmed up fully to start before the lightning delays. He might have been on a lower pitch count today.
