In his first year, for the first half of the year- he had some great games, even some games where I dare say he carried the team. Then about halfway through the season, he stopped being good and turned into meh. I thought for sure he would rebound this year and play great, but he was meh. Whether due to injury, confidence, coaching, or maybe just a fluke he had a run of some really good games. Guess we will never know.
Good luck, Chris.
That was probably a lot of "scout catching up to the tape" I'm thinking.
I think it was a combo of injuries, scouting and coaches taking advantage of his labilities. I also don't think the young guys were particularly good at getting him the ball where he likes it the way Jarron and Tre could to prior year.
I'm pretty much of the same mind with injuries being in the forefront. I don't know what all happened but he seemed to lose a lot of muscle and definition last year. Even his free throw % went from .574 to .351. That's not from good scouting. Something was just wrong with him.
To be fair his free throw shooting was more in line with what it was prior to UC.
To be really fair, he hadn't done a whole lot of anything prior to UC in actual games. To my eyes he was a guy who's whole game was just coming into his own as a junior at UC as the season progressed up until the back end and torn labrum.

RE: Transfer portal
I would welcome Vogt back. He battled injuries the past year and a half which has seemed to really negatively impact his game but you can't teach size. He's never going to be a dominant high-major center but I always felt like he was good for what he was. Vogt always showed tremendous effort and has been a great teammate by all accounts.
With that said, I think Vogt probably won't want to come back.

^I had assumed he just now put his name in the portal because he was told he wasn't a part of Miller's plan.

My guess is given he was Brannen's project it would be a little awkward for him. It's one thing to be a one year guy like those who have returned, but he was with him for 4 years.

Tari Eason has committed to LSU. Bearcats will need to move on without him.

So the big issue remains. They have no inside players.

Really need some help in the frontcourt now. Davenport should play the 3, and Lakhin is a complete unknown.

Happy for him and wish him well. Better to decide now than returning and later questioning that decision. Time will tell if he was a casualty of the 2021 program trauma or searching for something he or his family didn't find in Cincinnati.

Probably a blessing in disguise for Miller. I'm sure he would have liked to have had him as a player. But not having a crazy mom on social media questioning your every move, may turn out to be a good thing.
(Full disclosure, those aren't sour grapes. I was tentative about bringing him back from the get go for that very same reason)

I thought Wes went to Seattle? How could this happen?

He must really like coaching changes. Joking aside, hope he does well down there. We now know our core. Time for the coaches to get recruiting.

I hope Chad doesn’t get mad at me, but according to him, Momster wanted him back at UC. She takes a lot of heat, but sounds like it was undeserved in this instance.

Interesting. Wes obviously wanted him so a bummer. But the transfer portal is full of potential new Binturongs

I don't think there is much of a list at the moment. I saw a Coastal Carolina and St Johns transfers have heard from us, but I don't think anyone but maybe some insiders know who we are really in on right now.
I would expect to hear a lot more news on it over the next couple days. I know it does not feel like recruiting news, but getting two potential transfers back is a good start, now Miller needs to fill out a roster.

RE: Transfer portal
The St. John’s guy who put UC in his top 2 the day after Brannen was suspended ended up committing to a bad Southern Miss program...after his Final 2 per his Twitter posting were Cincinnati & Florida...lol

My mistake on the St Johns guy, but looks like FIU transfer Antonio Daye Jr. has also "heard" from Cincinnati. No idea how reliable some of these tweets are though.

One way to track it is to see who guys who are rumored to be coming to the staff have been following on Twitter the past few days.
