RE: Hoops transfers forecast
The biggest thing is that although he is a Grad transfer, I believe he will have 2 years of eligibility with the COViD rule.

Per Mettlen "Falden will enter JMU as a graduate transfer and take advantage of the NCAA’s decision to grant an extra year of eligibility to players following two COVID-19 shortened seasons. A business major at Winthrop, Falden told the Daily News-Record he was still deciding on a graduate program at James Madison."

If it was Falden - that was an oversell. 03-drunk

I'm still hopeful it was about Matt speaking in an hour. If he came back that would be huge news.

Yes, it was indeed an oversell.

Falden is just an okay acquisition for JMU. You hope he brings toughness, shot making, and winning experience to JMU.

With that said, he came off the bench at Winthrop for 3 seasons. Finally, he earned a starting role as a senior, but was not one of their top players on this year's tournament team. It's also curious that Pat Kelsey didn't look to bring him along to Col. of Charleston.

Jake Lieberman is reporting JMU could be landing another transfer soon. My guess is it will be Seton Hall's Takal Molson.

Completely agree. He’s an experienced body, but not the level of player the early note by Merten intimated.

yes Bickerstaff is his grandson, and his uncle is currently head coach in the NBA. Philadelphia inquirer did a whole story a bit back on that whole family and the amount of basketball in their blood.

He shot almost 80% from the free throw line. I like that. And according to the DNR, he had the second highest efficiency rating on his team(whatever that may mean). In By I trust.

6pm today the Seton Hall “junkyard dog” announces his transfer destination. Would be another nice addition for the Dukes.

I trust Coach By will now address the front court now that the back court has been solidified.

I like gritty guards, he is going to have to up his 3pt shooting percentages though - 20% needs quite a bit of work.

Our guard rotation next year is going to be wild. I imagine we will play a 4 guard set. I cant decide if wooden is going to be included in that guard set or not. We really really need some stronger post presence. Amadi can only play 35ish minutes a game. This is going to be an easy sell for a very good player IMO. Come to JMU, we have 0 forwards, play a bunch of minutes

I expect Byington would jump at a legit 6'10"...that is a good player. I can't name any really good 6'10" player at JMU, ever, besides Bowles.

We all know that CAA teams have to go the route of of 6'6" and wide in the front court. A Charles Barkley wanna-be, let's see two of those, please.

Wilson was one that got away.

Armadi will have two fouls in the first five minutes every game if he is on the court with 4 guards every game.

RE: Hoops transfers forecast
Me thinks that Molson and either Edwards or Savage will take turns guarding PFs and that Wooden will spend a large portion of his time guarding players underneath.

My fear is that the young guys with huge upside will get buried behind the upperclassmen and leave. Edwards certainly flashed last year, McConnell and Savage are supposed to be great gets, and even Strickland now has to play with four other players his size, although I imagine a spot in the rotation is secure for him.

I will say this- our 10th best player is probably better than just about any team's 10th best player in the history of the conference. I'm just not sure we have addressed our actual needs.

That said, Molson's stats from the MAAC look really good, so I'm definitely glad to have him.

Fwiw Molson started at PF earlier this season for Seton Hall at least when they played Creighton. I think he will be a 3 with JMU.

Didn’t suit the style on both ends that JMU plays under Coach By- too slow footed and below the rim- too one dimensional.

We gotta see two bigs soon right? There are 900 players in the portal, I figure 300 are 6'8" or taller.

We need one that has the Rodman mentality, "I am here to rebound and play defense."
