Quote:Ken Niumatalolo-Navy
Hot Seat Status=Nonexistent
Ken Niumatalolo will never be fired by Navy. He will leave when he chooses to do so. Last year, he made a mistake by not practicing tackling out of an abundance of concerns due to the pandemic. This set them up to struggle, but that doesn’t change what he’s done over the course of his career.
Big deal. Scottie Montgomery didn't let the Pirates practice tackling for 3 years. Not joking.

RE: Which AAC coaches are on the hot seat for 2021?
Please Rod Carey.
Edit: read the article. I believe they are incorrect regarding Careys buyout. Yes, any team that would hire him away would have to pay big, however we can fire him for much less. So its not true that we cannot afford to fire him; we simply cannot afford to not fire him. If as I’ve predicted we are a 3-9 team this year, we will have lost most of the hard fought for momentum of the past 20 years. Recruiting and attendance will nose dive. Carey has to go.

He was a bad hire... is a bad hire... will always be a bad hire... I am starting to lose the love for Temple that started their second year in the BIG EAST (1992), they were "Expelled from the league for lack of commitment to the football program"... it could happen again, Temple seems to have zero commitment to athletics... JMHO

Houston is stuck with Holgorsen. His buyout would be about $9 million right now.

Yeah---but nobody is going to fire their coach at the end of March unless a scandal occurs. So, basically, its about how much it costs to fire him after the 2021 season. Well, that cost is only about 4.8 million at the end of 2021. It would be 2.4 million at the end of 2022. The first 3 years were fully guaranteed. The last 2 years are only 60% guaranteed. So, after 2021, the buyout is basically 60% of the remaining two years unless he wins a conference championship AND plays in a CFP bowl (in which case the final 2 years becomes fully guaranteed....and if he does that you wouldnt want to fire him at the end of 2021 anyway).

If Luke Fickell doesn't win the National Championship, is it time we start looking in another direction to lead Cincinnati's football program?

I want to see him get courted by some P5 teams and turn them down. Publicly. Adds legitimacy to the conference.

In 2018, he quietly talked to and turned down Louisville and West Virginia. West Virginia's current university president was a long time Ohio State president.
In 2019, Michigan State was about as public as it will get with Fickell. They sent one of his good friends Mark Dantonio as well as well known Tom Izzo to try and get him at Michigan St. and were almost successful, but he chose to stay. Also rumored he wouldn't even talk with Florida St, but who knows how strong they pursued.
This leads me to believe until he does something special here (Win NY6 bowl-May prove to him he can compete in CFP/Break into the CFP-This may change the list to just Ohio State and Notre Dame if it happened) or his kid (Incoming Freshmen) graduates he stays outside of:
1) Ohio State
2) Notre Dame
3) Penn State
4) Never know with the blue bloods like Alabama, Georgia, Florida, LSU, Texas, Oklahoma, USC, Clemson.
5) Maybe but doubtful Michigan, Wisconsin, Nebraska

Correct. We were down to our 5th QB, city Covid rules prohibited practice up till the very start of game 1. Carey has done OK in the transfer portal. If the kid from Georgia can perform like a 4 star, then all is not bleak. We will have to score a lot of points as i think defense will suffer.
Besides, Temple doesn't fire coaches. It lets them run out their contracts.

Sorry fellas but I read a lot of excuses and if this if thats. I cannot remember getting blown out by any team after Rhules first year, Carey has been demolished by Buffalo, UCF twice, SMU twice, Tulane, ECU. Not just losses, blowout embarrassing losses. I don’t see Carey as a coach who will get us to the top of the conference. I hope I’m wrong and we go 9-3 instead of 3-9 I just don’t see it. As for firing HCs, Temple has an interim president and interim AD so no moves can be made until that gets straightened out. But my fear is that Carey will get to the end of his contract and will have made Temple the new UConn in football.

Yes, and I hope I am, and I hope we go 14-0. And its a prediction of the future so of course I could be wrong. My comments are about future events based on past events (which I am not wrong about) and IMHO I don't believe Carey has what it takes. As the premise of the OP is coaches on the hot seat I think Carey belongs there.

If Luke Fickell and UC win the national title, Bill Dazzle, to celebrate, will ride a children's tricycle along Lower Broadway in downtown Nashville — nude but for a top hat and white gloves — and with the phrase "Fear the Binturongs" painted in red and black on his man bottom.
