I don't think the selection committee will be inclined want to do that, but they might if Georgetown steals a bid by winning the BE tourney championship, and they're up by 8 late in the first half.

Creighton maybe tanking?
Georgetown a confirmed bid-thief, though.

Should be 1 or 3 if consistent logic is used. But I'm still seeing Duke can still get a bid scrolling across the page so who knows.

Wichita State is ahead of Memphis by way of the conference championship. I don't see why it would be either 1 or 3.

Because WSU just had a Q3 loss to Cincy & Memphis beat them by 20 (& it wasn't that close).

Wichita has 2 Q1 wins and Memphis has 0. That matters infinitely more than what you just listed.

Also your "and it wasn't that close" is a dumb comment considering the lead reached 20 for the first time with 49 seconds left in the game and never went above 20 lol

Nobody really knows. 1 is certain. Could be 2 or 3. Only the shadow in the Selection Committee knows.

What I know is they have a bias against non-P5/BE conferences.

I understand the metrics BS but Memphis trounced WSU who just had a Q3 loss to add enough confirmation to make a WSU bid far from safe.

Right but a single home game for Memphis doesn't override the lack of Q1 wins. And the Q3 loss that WSU had MIGHT matter... If Memphis didn't have a worse Q3 loss.

Memphis's predictive metrics are better. WSUs results based metrics are better and WSUs Resume is quite a bit better overall

At least Cincinnati has better odds of winning the championship than Memphis. There is that.

Penny is now scouting Davidson and Belmont for the potential big game matchup next week on the Ocho.

Why are we bickering back and forth? None of us get to make the decision, and none of us have a clue what the Selection Committee will do, other than generally screw over everybody not P5 or BE.

I hope we both get in. And if UC wins tomorrow, then they did it the way both of us should have, to take it out of the hands of the Committee.

Honestly I wouldn’t feel that comfortable if I was Wichita. Memphis beats Wichita in every category other than the home win against Houston which we never had a shot at and we are close enough that they could give us the bid at your expense.

Normally I would say conference champs would make you safe but no one really believes you are the number 1 team in the conference even if you got the banner. Third or even fourth depending on smu. All the advanced metrics have Memphis way way ahead of Wichita. Net in the mid 60s and kenpom mid 70s certainly doesn’t make you safe. Memphis is now up to 38 kenpom. Neither does the eye test. Memphis missing key players etc.. I hope we both get in but being listed a team or two above Memphis in the brackets would make me nervous they don’t pull a switcharoo if Houston wins the finals.

That why I said 1 or 3. WSU's problem is likely not Memphis but I can assure you if WSU doesn't get a bid, the committee will have heard WSU just had a Q3 loss when the bid was on the line (recency bias) & they lost big to Memphis (who they also rejected). Not saying it will happen but that's the logic. Hope both WSU & Memphis make it but I have my doubts.

I'm not comfortable that Wichita is in. I'm very comfortable that Wichita is above Memphis on the seed list.

Both deserve to get in.
