MBB @ Central Michigan - Final Game of the Season
Go Huskies.
In a separate question. The Ohio/Bowling Green game was canceled today for reasons I do not know however, Ohio's last game was also canceled so I'm assuming they're the culprit.
Currently, Ohio sits in the 5th spot for the tournament and they look pretty locked in to that spot since Bowling Green can't pass them (as they aren't playing) and Miami is too far back to catch them with only 1 game remaining.
So.....my question is....if Ohio is having COVID issues, does that possibly knock them out of the tournament and, if so...would the #4 seed (currently, Akron) receive a bye into the next round or do they shift everyone up a spot making Bowling Green the 5, Miami the 6, Ball State the 7 and Western Michigan the 8 (current rankings)?
If that last bit is the case, then this game actually might mean something for CMU as they are just a game behind WMU and could possibly catch them and tie at 4-12.
Actually....scratch that....drama over. It doesn't matter. Western swept the season series against the Chips so even if they catch them, it won't matter one bit.
Anyway, is there a possible way that a 4 win Western Michigan makes the MACT based on Ohio's availability?

Yes, the conference has already announced that if Ohio, or any other team, is unable to play in the tournament, the 9th seeded team will be added.

I believe they also stated any team unable to play once the tournament starts, their games will be considered forfeits.

Yes. I believe the NCAA is doing that as well outside of the 4 reserve teams they have for the 1st round. There's no other way to do it.
The Patriot League has already had the come up in their 1st round a couple days ago. Holy Cross had to forfeit to Loyola (MD).

Halftime
NIU - 37
CMU - 30
I only was able to see the last 7 minutes but NIU was playing hot and confident.

2nd Half starts with an NIU 9-0 run.

The 9 points were 3-pointers by Thornton, Hankerson, and Scott.

Final
NIU 79
CMU - 74
Hankerson with 27 points.
Free throws! Free throws! Free throw!!!
After shooting 1 of 2 in the first half from the line, Huskies shoot 14 of 14 in the 2nd half from the charity stripe.
The 3s dried up about half way (or a few minutes earlier) and then almost all shots dried up with about 6 minutes to play. But free throws won this game for them.
Unbelievable...

Happy to see them end the season with at win. It's been tough to watch as a fan, but can't imagine going through this season as a player. Now, let's hire a coach!

Hope the players (coming back and not) remember this game and not twelve of the previous ones. Give them credit for a good road win.

Incredible... We go from a 30% FT performance to a 94% FT game!!! We won this game because we made our free throws. We would have lost by 5 points with another 30% FT game. CMU still made 5 more FT than we did.
I assume 27 points was Hankerson's career high. I didn't call him CLankerson once during the game!
