Double Standard
Where is the outrage and legislative threats to University of Tenn.
The Lady Vols have taken a knee more than once plus have stayed in the locker room when the Anthem was played.
Why are those actions treated different than ETSU mens basketball team.

It is an ugly, discriminatory double standard against ETSU. It is a form of protest that is all over the country. The local press makes it worse by playing up the double standard. I am totally dismayed by our treatment. Our local politicians make the area look like an even worse backward, repressed region. The entire thing is embarrassing because of this double standard and there is no way any university should treated this badly. Where is our local news media on this?

RE: Double Standard
Can someone post the UT videos of the team kneeling and Kelly's reply to media on this site. Its readily available. Let the people that follow on this board see the nearly identical events that happened at UT.
I wonder why local tv, newspapers and our legislative representatives ignored these events. If they did show and print these events, I just to failed to see it and I apologize in advance for my ignorance.

Yes thanks. The double standard is not only embarrassing it is scary. Why? ETSU has always been a beacon of light in the area. ETSU has always been a leader in civil rights. Stay the course Bucs. Stay the course.

We have as good a chance as any, with a few breaks and the revenge factor against Chatt. who knows. Just wish we could have played two or three games with Samford...

RE: Double Standard
I personally think it is the wrong way to protest these things and our leaders should be actually leading folks instead of walking the tight rope. All kneeling does is offend many in your intended audience and destroy your actual message. Folks are too afraid of the cancel culture to call out the obvious double standard that exists in that regard.
Why kneel during the anthem unless your intent was to communicate that our country is inherently racist? Which is BS because the majority elected a black president twice! Don’t confuse what I’m saying though. There is racism in this country and it needs to be stopped. And protested. Kneeling is just not an effective way and it’s very divisive. We can and should do better than this.

The protests are taking place all over the country. The attacks on ETSU are a double standard. I do not know of any other school being attacked like we are. The athletes would not be doing something without good reason. Most people I know think and believe ETSU is the only school where athletes are letting their voices be heard. The attacks make the region look fifty years behind the times. Go Bucs!

We will never completely erase racism, and at this historic time in our history, racism flows in more ways than one. Of course we continue to seek out solutions to REAL racial problems as opposed to fabricated, for political gain, problems. It is a national disgrace that the truth is not taught in our schools or reported through our media of the unprecedented progress that’s been made in the United States to address the real and egregious racism of the past. Is there another country in all of human history that has done more? So many seem to be completely ignorant of this. Bottom line — it is time for the protesters and their supporters, especially politicians, to step up to the plate and specifically name, date, locate, and factually identify the racism they’re either experiencing or see others experiencing so that the country can focus on and address so that we can ALL move on together and get this behind us!

RE: Double Standard
We get it 81, you don’t have to endlessly spam “muh backwards area”. This region is highly conservative, with a liberal university (as they all are). We have all seen programs around the nation kneel, no one thinks this is an isolated incident.... do you think Kaepernick is a universally beloved figure? People are disappointed that the school that “supposedly” represents them did this. No one is surprised that UT or any other flagship did likewise, that couldn’t blindside anybody. I’ve always known my personal politics don’t mesh with 99% of athletes, but that’s never mattered in the past. We’ve been spammed with BLM warmups out of Buc players and that was political enough. Plus, the timing of the kneeling was bizarre, as no events have recently transpired that have repopularized kneeling. They knew kneeling would ruffle feathers, and they did so, and are facing the consequences.
I doubt many of you would be crying “muh free speech” if they threw up Q signs in support of the QAnon. Obviously doing divisive things divided people. Besides the point, 1st amendment only applies to congress, I don’t foresee Pelosi trying to stop these kids anytime soon.
Anyway, swva told us everything would be perfect when orange man was gone, why are we still protesting?
