The "pressure" is stupid. No idea if he was planning to come back the next day or not. Even if not, he has an entire staff to keep him updated. Did the RONA not teach us anything about working remotely? IMO, the "optics" are only bad to partisans.

I'm not necessarily bothered by what Cruz did. It undoubtedly "looks" bad, but it doesn't really amount to much of substance.

Like when people got mad at Obama because he didn't "show up" to some disaster area to furrow his brow, look sullen, and the leave after promising federal aid (which he could have just as easily done in DC).

Same for those killing W. for taking a couple extra days to do the dog and pony show after Katrina.

I think detractors are stupid in both situations and it's 100% dependent upon an R or D.

God help those in danger right now if the most powerful men and women in Texas aren't doing anything because it doesn't fit into their day to day job description during a crisis.

I'm not a chef but that didn't stop me from baking a 25lb frozen turkey we had yesterday to feed people. I'm not a hotelier but that didn't stop me from opening up my home to those without water or power. Best believe if I had his rolodex I wouldn't be flying to Cancun with the kids only to be shamed back to Texas because the world announced I was an even bigger POS than expected. Best believe if I had his media presence I would be shouting from the rooftops that more needs to be done.

I'm just as pissed that Washington has been as silent on the issue as our senators. I'll be listening to the DC presser today and if there isn't any comment on action from our press sec. then Biden can eat **** as well.
