I do think there are honestly some times when someone who is really talented, signed on with a team that simply has too many studs in front of them or got recruited over.
I know, Mac beat out a 5* to start this year, but there are times when a young man chooses a school for the name of the school and had dreams of playing, worked their butts off, and still could see that they had a lot of talent, but aside from a positional change, they would probably never see the field.
I endorse the fight, don't quit, keep trying mentality, but I also think there are some occasions where finding another team who needs a talented XYZ position can yield playing time and chances that probably would never come where they are.

The guy in the middle stuck it out an entire year after losing his starting position (but he is rare).

He didn't lose his position officially until the season started. Remember He started every game the previous year and Saban said he wasn't sure who the starter would be until the season almost began...You know Saban being Saban.

I thought the guy in the middle lost his position at halftime of the championship game?

He did...But not officially. Saban strung him out with the thought that it would be an open competition...And he did not declare Tua a starter until right before the season.

He also would have had to sit a year at Okie if he transferred the summer before he did. Instead, he graduated so he wouldn't have to sit. It wasn't exactly that he wanted to be backup to fulfill some type obligation, or he felt like he would get better as a backup.

And who is the Woodie guy posting this advice, and why should anyone listen to him? Maybe we should - I just don't know him.

Doesn't matter who he is...He isn't all knowing.
It is his opinion...No different than our opinion.
There are many more success stories of kids transferring than kids staying...Starting with Russell Wilson

I, of course, hate Denny Crum, but Dan Haskins had a neat story about Denny and Larry Bird in the book "Glory Road". French Lick, Indiana is only an hour from Louisville. So, when Denny knew that he was leaving Indiana tried hard to get him to come visit Louisville. Larry did not respond to his calls and would not talk to him. So Denny drove over to Larry's house in French Lick. He came up to the house and was talking, but Larry did not say a word in response. In desperation, Denny challenged Larry to a game of horse. If Denny won, Larry would visit Louisville. So they walked over to Larry's dirt basketball court. Larry beat him in 5 shots, turned and walked back to the house without saying a word.
Suck it Louisville! But gotta give him props for having the guts to challenge Larry Bird to a game of horse.

Seems like he made the best decision for himself. He wouldn’t be in the NFL today if he didn’t make that move. Sometimes it’s the right choice.
