I don't think they'll struggle that much against teams that aren't Gonzaga. They want to play up tempo, according to their coach. Gonzaga just has it perfected. They also shot around 70% the first half which they won't always do.

Dixie isn't giving up a lot of easy points from fast breaks. They get back, but before they really get set Gonzaga can score from any where they want. And once they started hitting 3s, they really stretched the lead.

Dixie is without a couple of their scorers tonight, but looks to be a team to watch out for. Cameron Gooden is a really nice player. Very talented Juco transfer.

GU is legit no question, one of our AAU kids plays for them so I'm really bias about them. DSU seems to be sucking wind for a group that wants uptempo. Dixie will be the best team from Utah from this day forward in basketball. They are going to be fun to have around.

And I watched Northwestern State play Gonzaga so I may be comparing the 2 games.
The difference was night and day. Northwestern players were seldom even playing defense because Gonzaga scored so quickly. The only players crossing half court were 2 guys so they could throw the ball back in.I think Northwestern State had 15 at halftime. Dixies game looked very, very different.

The Dixie fans commented they aren't subbing nearly as much as normal because of missing personnel so some guys may be getting left in longer than normal.

Northwestern St stinks (Chicago St bad) but GU is playing Dixie on a 2nd game of a back to back with NAU having played GU yesterday.

Now we are cancelling games based on previous teams played. Unreal.

Looks like NMSU is going to go into WAC play with hardly any games under their belt. So incredibly frustrating as a fan, I can’t imagine what it feels like to be in the program right now.

GO AGGIES!

I agree this is unreal. Why play sports at all if we are cancelling games "out of an abundance of caution"? Life (and especially sports) is full of risk. Something other than just Covid concerns seems to be going on here.

You're at the correct door, now kick it in.

What? Why’d they agree to play then? And then wait till now to cancel it? Good grief. I know I like to rip on nmsu but I’d be pissed if I were a fan. They’ve had exactly ONE game against D1 competition this academic year in football & mens bball combined

Part of me really just wants us to call it a season at this point. I'm not excited for the season. If Football plays games, it will be out of state. Same for Volleyball, Women's Soccer, Baseball, Softball and so on.

I do not see any way NMSU plays any home games this year for anything. The governor is hanging her hat on this issue. Right or wrong, I do not see her changing her mind.

It’s really hard not to be pissed about it. I get it, COVID sucks, but like you mentioned, why agree to play at all? Just doesn’t make any sense to me.

I say bring on the WAC schedule. It’s probably the only way we are going to get any games at all. Hopefully we don’t have many cancellations or we just aren’t going to eligible to go to any postseason tournaments should we make it that far.

GO AGGIES!!!!

RE: The Covid Effect
NMSU has 14 WAC games and WAC Tournament games. Something terrible would have to happen for them not to reach 13 games played.

Rest of the country has figured it how to operate in a covid world, yet NM can't.

RE: The Covid Effect
Quote:Boston University and Holy Cross will both wear masks for Tuesday's men's college basketball game, a Boston University spokesperson told ESPN.

The game is believed to be the first in men's college basketball this season in which both teams will be wearing masks on the court.

Stadium reported Monday morning that Boston University has mandated that all of its opponents wear masks during games on BU's campus. The Terriers and Holy Cross also play each other on Monday, but that game is on Holy Cross' campus, meaning only BU will be wearing masks during the game.
