Tulsa was starting crap all game playing the role of chippy disrespected G5. This was inevitably going to happen.
After the pregame fight refs should have been throwing guys out instead of giving them 15 yards for throwing balls in players faces or taking cheap shots.

I wouldn't talk so bold after your embarrassment against Penn State last year.
Excuse me? Were you there? We played our asses off against the #6 team in the country, and they didn't secure the win until the last minute. And we scored more points on them than anybody all season.
So get outta here with that nonsense.

I will say one thing in Tulsa's defense. It looked to me like #3 for Miss State threw the first punch after the game.

#3 definitely threw the first punch, but I think #7 for Tulsa might have said something to get it going. Whatever, both teams were looking for a fight before the game ever got started.

Yup. Monty's teams routinely show a lack of discipline and it has become worse every year. This year by was way out of control.
MS started the fight but we should have better control of our players than that and knowing the issues should have kept it moving at the end of the game. We aren't exactly looking good in this whole mess.

As far as the game goes. It's amazing what a top 15-20 draft pick will cover up for you.
This MS team beat down a ranked Mizzou a few weeks ago, but they are still 3-7 (4-7 now). Monty as usual has terrible game management. I have no idea why he continued to kick, and didn't just squib the ball.towards out of bounds way earlier. Going for it on fourth down in the first, while getting sacked for the turn over and then ending the half with time outs is always fun to watch. So is watching us take forever to get calls in while down two scores with six minutes left in the game. In the post game show he raved about Smith and how well he played, I have no idea what he was watching but since that was his assesment I see why we have so many issues at QB.
Smith's interception for a TD was the game deciding points.
Smith's interception at the five cost us the game. A field goal there and a defensive stop (which we got on the possesion after the interception) and that last TD we score is for the lead and we are kicking it away ahead with a minute or less to go.
Tulsa continues to be winless versus the p5 with Monty as coach 0-11 or 12 I believe since joining the AAC with only a couple games even close. Our last win was versus ND in Southbend in 2009 I believe.
Monty turned what easily could have been a crazy undefeated year into 6-3 team, a team that should have finished ranked, into a team that will be remembered for trash talking and getting in a brawl with a 4-7 team they lost to.
I am still in the Fire Monty camp, this Zaven Collins inspired miracle season is not enough after that lack of discipline at the bowl game.

Bowl game fights and lackluster play are only going to get worse after the playoffs expand to eight teams. With few exceptions at present, players for teams that don't make the playoffs lose interest, coaches are thinking about their current or future jobs, top-tier star players opt out of the games out of fear of getting injured and ruining their pro prospects, and second-tier star players are saving their best for the Senior Bowl or the East-West Shrine Bowl.
I don't have the same interest that I used to have when there were fewer bowl games and before the time when just having a winning record qualified your team for a bowl game.

It was 38-36 toward the end of the third quarter. They scored a td we scored a fg to make it 45-39. Stayed that way until 6:30 left in the game. White made a bad turnover in their end and they went in to score. White still had a chance for another TD but threw an interception at the two yd line. The closest to our 39 pts was #18 Minnesota with 31 pts.

You'll feel better tomorrow. Tulsa out gained Moo State by 200 yards. The pick 6 was a killer. Might have been as much as a 14 point swing.
The team is huge. good speed, tough with a lot of talent. You guys will be fine.

Last year, Tulane played its arch rival and both sides acted with class and dignity. Sad to see this on TV. I forgive a tough loss, but this is low class stuff.

Thank you for the positive.
One of the reasons we outgained them is they regularly started on our side of the fifty. We also didn't score.
I agree the pick six was big, not as big as the second interception was imo. We were in position for at least a field goal. Our defense stopped them got the ball back and we scored. If we get just a field goal out of that possesion instead of the second interception we probably win.
I won't feel better because Tulsa teams are not suppose to act like this, it's not part of our culture, MS started the fight but we were all about it, after we lost the game. That's just unacceptable and this game isn't the only one. We have talked about it on our board a bit. Today was way over the line and their needs to be accountability, starting with the HC. The way it was handled post game doesn't say that is what is happening to me. The behavior is embarrassing to the school, players, and supporters.
I can take losing but not a trash program.

That MS ST. prick that side kicked a player and then ran away from the scuffle like a 3-year old girl. That guy needs to grow a pair of furry ones. Stand around and man up, he ran away like a little sissy girl.

Our team was undisciplined as usual. Smith was erratic as usual. I would of liked to see what Brin could do. Was proud of team sticking together as family! Hope for a great year in 2021 and a healthy one.
May our basketball teams continue with successful year.
