Not super excited that they believe Smartt is the best QB at this time (if true). That is not a good sign for Wolfe. The major concern above any other position should be QB.

Yes, guessing one of the upcoming articles from HM will cover SWs move to defense.

And if they played a game this week, Stone would be the starter.

I cannot process this. You're making me nervous now. Maybe the season off was a blessing.

RR was a QB and I would guess he knows how to bring out the best at that position.

Interesting that we didn't hear about Aaron Moore and Nigel Fitzgerald, who stepped up as our best WRs last year.

Harry, if you’re reading this, any one who cares enough to read these articles doesn’t need to reminded (in every article) of the following;
1. Our new coaching staff is from Penn State.
2. We didn’t play football this fall.

But if it gets more clicks for the program, why is that a problem? Dude is just trying to increase media interest, yes?

I've been listening to Michael Lombardi quite a bit recently on SiriusXM and every time he talks about the B1G, he talks about Penn State's troubles, blaming their bad season on "losing their offensive coordinator Ricky Rahne, who took the ODU head coaching job". Sounds so cool to just hear our name in those national conversations every time we can. To me, HM should ride that PSU hire and youngest, freshest coaching staff for as long as it brings interest.

Thats a good point if you view it in that context. If you view as hardcore ODU fans looking for actual tidbits, it fails that test.

Another factor that might be in play here is RR's willingness to over-share. BW never saw a camera or microphone he didn't like. The new staff may just be far more secretive, at least at this point.

This said, no mention or Moore or Fitzgerald is curious.

Yup! Harry's job isn't to give hard hitting journalism to ODU fans (expressly), it's to give ODU very friendly PR (which does include making ODU fans happy usually). Tying ODU to one of the most preeminent college football programs as much as possible is very in-line with that mission.

Bobby had 3 pretty good QB's to start with. Forget about them.07-coffee3

Lol. Plenty of hard-hitting journalism is clearly present with about 8 folks making their points with about a million collective posts on these boards. Stunned why HM wouldn't put that on ODUSports.com and expect more clicks!

Well, theres confirmation that Stevie Williams will be playing outside linebacker. Im not sure its fair to say ODU has never had a good defense. I thought last season they did pretty well, it was the non-existent offense that killed us. The bowl season we had a decent defense too. But yes, we've been O_U much more than _DU over the years.

Here is our new roster. A lot of house cleaning. We are very thin at DE, LB , and OL and no veteran WRs. We really need transfer/JuCo QB, WR, OL and DE. A lot of freshmen will play.

Notable players gone: K. White, Garner, Wilder, Messiah Weaver, Muller, Kumah, Herslow, Joyner, Ross.

Weaver is on the roster, fwiw. But we knew most of those guys were gone.

We do have some WR that will have been in program for 2-3 years.

FWIW, Chaz Surratt, who dominated ODU when he played QB in 2017 for UNC (I think that's when Williams made his ODU debut at QB), ended up changing to linebacker is is now All-ACC in that position. Let's see if Williams can have similar success.
