New Deputy AD
John Cunningham hired a new Deputy AD who will be responsible for ticket sales and revenue generation. Comes from Syracuse, where the two worked together previously.

Here's hoping he brings some fresh ideas to Cincy for attracting more fans. That is, once we're allowed to set foot upon campus again.

RE: New Deputy AD
Looks like a solid hire.

Glad he's on the younger side and hope to see some creative ideas for growing and expanding the fanbase. I'm sure he understands the importance of corporate interest from his time at Syracuse as well although looks like his priorities will be more on the former.

There was a baseball game going on?

Good move. Someone who can focus on the revenue and marketing aspects of things. Some of us blokes have thrown out some good ideas over the past several years. Maybe some can come to fruition. I still say figure out how to put butts in the club seats at Nippert. It has always bothered me that most of the stadium is filled out but for those premium seats. Not a good look especially during a prime time or night game.

LOL. The Winter league games down there are great (not with CV this season). Cheap tickets and beer compared to USA. Good ball parks also.

Agreed. I never understood it at Bengals games either (even when they were solid and selling out). Although just taking a quick look it appears PBS club section appears to stand out much more than the Steelers, Ravens, or Browns.

Would love for the club seats at Nip to be packed during a sellout game like UCF last year! Makes a huge difference in overall atmosphere for everyone including those on the field.

An article from the Syracuse paper goes into a little more detail about what he will be doing here.

Quote:“A lot of it will be revenue generation,” Di Fino said. “It is a deputy AD title so it’s a step up for my career and I want to be an AD. I’ll still oversee the marketing, ticket sales, ticket operations.

Good. Do your job well here at UC and climb up the career ladder.

Quote:In addition to ticket sales, Di Fino was part of efforts to improve the tailgating atmosphere around the Carrier Dome. He helped plan increased activities in the parking lots and the school’s ‘Cuse on the Quad approach to pre-game.

Ideas in this area have been brought up on this board. So far, I like what I'm hearing.

How would you do that? Hard to find people that will pay $350 per ticket x 6

If you start selling unsold ones cheap you piss off people like me who are paying the full fare. Perhaps common season ticket holder’s could get an offer once a year to buy up for $100 a ticket.

Idk seems to be one of those Cincinnati sports things to me. I maybe wrong and just not notice club section at other stadiums. If a game is sold out I guess they are just staying indoors enjoying drinks or food. Maybe many are company bought and many people are no shows.

All I know is I was a bit disappointed the section wasn’t more filled during UCF game last year. Other schools don’t seem to have this issue in their club levels.

BTW, I thought you had your own private suite? Clubs really isn’t very expensive especially at UC. I’m just a cheap A$$ and there aren’t many bad seats in Nippert stadium. I’ve sat in club at Nippert for a few games. I like lower bowl seats better at my age.

Anything is better than empty, graveyard seats. Why were they added if they aren't generating revenue? Wasn't that the point of the $80 million plus renovation? Thus, I would hope the Deputy AD has this as a priority from day one.

I worked with both John C. and Anthony at Syracuse. Not as an employee but with fan engagement. Anthony is super bright and focused. One of the couple best (if not the best) in the Cuse AD department. He gets fan engagement. He went to bat for tailgaters to improve their game day experiences and was on the phone fixing or in person fixing things when the parking Nazis got too full of themselves.

Has John C. set up a Bearcat Fan Council, yet? If so, if Anthony gets involved that would be a huge plus.

Anthony will be an AD within 7 years.

Good to know TexanMark. Thank you. Do you know if he had any background in AD revenues - both increasing/maximizing existing streams and developing new ones? That is part of his job description as Deputy AD.

He apparently started to set one up and then the couple people I knew that were contacted and who were interested in helping never heard anything after that.

Any idea why Anthony would leave Cuse? Seems like a bit of a lateral. Roles and titles seem similar at first glance.

On a platform over the "Notches" would be a real crowd pleaser!

Why would I and other Club Seaters continue to pay $350 a game to be joined by interlopers at the last moment getting in for say $50 and crowding our food stations and restrooms? We would just stop buying ahead at $350 a ticket and join the commoners at $50 on game day.

Yes he is a smart cookie. He understands data and money and knows PowerPoint, Excel, etc... He isn't some dumb jock despite playing football at Fordham.

I'm not advocating disrupting those folks like yourself - appreciate that you spend your dollars there. I'm just saying that a good revenue stream is not realizing its full potential. There must be ways to get that trending upward.
