RE: Pregame Thread: Tulsa vs. Cincy
For fun I have a signature bet with Panic.

He puts a big CPaw in his sig if UC wins at Tulsa and keeps it there through the end of the basketball season. I put a Tulsa logo in mine if we lose there. I’m not expecting to have to go look for one to upload.

I am PUMPED for this game. So much so that I forgot the UC-Xavier basketball was on until nearly halftime.

13 Cincinnati [40.9/PPG]
72 Tulsa [27.7/PPG]

Scoring Defense
5 Cincinnati [15.0/PPG]
21 Tulsa [19.86/PPG]

So, according to those, the final score should be:

Cincinnati - 30
Tulsa - 21

I'll believe Tulsa scores 21 if we are way ahead and let them score late against our backups.

Will be interesting if they try to stack the box for the run or leave safeties deep.

What's been the difference maker since Dez and the offensive line have settled in over the second half of the season is the defense has to pick its poison. I also think about how our TE's pressure the defense when they get out in space. I still think our defense is licking its chops at playing an offense not named UCF, SMU, Memphis and Houston. I mean, this could be close to a shut out type game. As I posted upstream, we've had two weeks to watch film and plan our invasion of Fort Tulsa.

Tulsa's O is nothing to speak of. Our D should slam them.

I would not be surprised if Tulsa goes max protect on O. If they do we need the push their WR and TE like a bulldozer at the LOS.

I might actually feel sorry for the Memphis fans for the year they're having...OK, not so much for the Houston fans...but I'd actually would like to see the Tulsa fan(s) suffer the next two weeks. We need to run the score up while shutting them out. I despise Louisville, but a 70-7 type score on Saturday would make me happy.

Small, private school with a bunch of popped collars. Trying to think of another school this reminds me of.

SMU? Tulane?

If you said small private school with a bunch of plumber's cracks rather than popped collars, my guess would be Xavier.

IIRC, their two best RBs went down as well.

I watched much of the game and I'm wondering the same regarding injuries. UC is favored regardless, but the absence of those players would tip the scales even more in the Bearcats' favor.

Anyone know if OK has crowd restrictions that will limit attendance Saturday? This is as close as the city of Tulsa will ever get to being their Super Bowl and if it's "everybody in the pool" they may set a record with a rowdy, hostile crowd.

I still say the American should put a finger on the scale by saying one game, neutral site (or Nippert as the higher ranked team) to create the best opportunity for the conference to secure yet another NY6 berth. Do we really want to leave the door ajar for Coastal Carolina and the Sun Belt to claim the $4 million and the prestige of playing on that stage if Tulsa can do what Memphis did to UC last year? We're already seeing evidence that P5 conferences will do what is necessary to reach the CFP payday.

My biggest concern is a Covid outbreak that takes key UC players out.
Prayers for good health this week.
Just win.

Hang half a hundred on them this weekend...make them dread catching the flight to head to Nippert the following week.

Ha! Good point. I need to improve my descriptors. It was Xavier, although the popped collars could have referred to a former rival that thinks they're a private institution.

UC basketball was my first love and basketball will always be my favorite sport. But I definitely have more enthusiasm for the football team at the moment.
