Seriously, most games in November have few fans anyway. If they put a modest limit on attendance it might not be an issue since we don't get good crowds anyway.
I'm hearing that each player will receive 4 tickets.
Is it no fans for every MAC school? Or just Michigan MAC schools? Thanks!
I heard the 4 ticket per player tidbit from the parent of another Michigan MAC player.

Details on tickets for players to allocate are still being finalized, but recent communication from EMU to parents is that the MAC is generally leaving it up to each school (other than no general admissions and no tailgating) as to how they will manage ticket disbursements. It's my understanding that EMU has a formal university committee that oversees all campus health policies related to COVID, and that includes athletics operations. So we are waiting for the final word. With the first two games on the road, there is time yet to finalize the details.

For away games, we would follow the home school's policy. No word yet on what that will mean specifically for EMU's road games. Personally, I'm probably going to watch the road games from the relative COVID-safe confines of my couch. I'm not comfortable with how open Ohio has been with their COVID regulations, and I'm not sure what Indiana has been doing.

I'd love to be there in person to watch Alex play, but as an overweight 58 year-old with high blood pressure, I am doing all I can to avoid catching this bug. I know EMU has been very good at managing its COVID policies and procedures, so I'll be comfortable social distancing at home games. Heading out of state is a whole other issue.

Thanks for that info! Just confirms my feelings about watching the away games from home.

MAC coaches preseason poll

East
1. Miami (6), 64
2. Buffalo (4), 58
3. Ohio (1), 48
4. Kent State, 42
5. Bowling Green, 23
6. Akron (1), 17

West
1. Toledo (4), 54
2. Western Michigan (2), 53
3. Central Michigan (5), 52
4. Ball State (1), 50
5. Eastern Michigan, 22
6. NIU, 21

As I've been saying, these are all just guesses. It's been a totally wild CFB thus far, with upsets galore happening across the conferences.

Sounds about right for where we should be slotted, but Frank’s right. Crazy stuff is happening in college football right now, so who really knows. Well-prepared teams are likely to get a nice jump early in the “season”, and with so few games that may be enough.

With no spring game I really don't know what to expect.
Who starts at RB now that Parker opted out and can Hutchison be the answer at QB everywhere on offense we are solid kicking game solid defense a mixture of old and new which means a lot of unknowns

With less than a week to go for the season opener against Kent State, it will be interesting to see how things pan out. They have a very good quarterback in Dustin Crum returning for his senior year. If the Eagles defense can pressure him and keep him from running (2019: Completed 217 passes for 2625 yards and 20 touchdowns against just 2 interceptions; 707 rushing yards and 6 touchdowns), that would go a long way toward shutting Kent down. That's a pretty tall order, though.

Looking at Kent State's O-Line, they only have three seniors returning this year, one of whom has missed a good deal of time due to injuries. Behind them there is not a lot of deep experience, although they do have one transfer from Kansas State who sat out last year due to eligibility. It will be interesting to see if they can give Crum the protection he'll need to pull off another season like he had last year.

This is where a good EMU running game can help. Chew up yards and clock on the ground and it limits the opportunity for Crum. He's a damn good QB.

The new RB most likely Boone? Need the OL to create holes! We've too keep our defense off the field as much as possible! Of the two the offense on paper is superior by a lot! LB are a major concern! Crump ran wild last year against us! DL needs to get pressure somehow! We'll score hopefully a lot of points I believe! 38-34 type of game! Unless the weather's bad!

We need game notes. Otherwise, I feel I'm flying blind.

This is one area I'm really interested in seeing. After losing Maxx and Harris last year, we clearly struggled generating much pass rush. I think it was the main thing hold us back from being 8-4ish instead of 6-6. I think Rush back for his last year and Haney a candidate to really be a breakout player (I thought he looked great in the bowl game). If some of the other guys (Stagner, Ramirez) can take a step it'll go a long way not just for Wednesday but the whole season.

RE: MAC football back for the fall!
A lot of the players you mentioned at the defensive end don't seem to be the 255 to 270 pound range. That's concerning to me.

FYI, the previous few years EMUEagles.com has been publishing the game notes and depth chart 5 days before kickoff, which would be today.

I would keep an eye out for that to be released this afternoon.

That doesn't worry me too much. Both Rush and Haney are listed at 249 which is about what I would think most MAC defensive ends are at. In their last season at EMU Maxx was 247 and Harris was 251. I even looked up Lions rookie Julian Okwara (a third round pick out of Notre Dame) and he is listed at 250.

DE is more about speed than size. Looks like Haney dropped about 30 lbs. That'll help with quickness.

RE: MAC football back for the fall!
The first two games of this season are going to be interesting for each MAC program from a game management perspective. In a regular year, MAC teams would have three Out of Conference games worth of film to analyze heading into the start of the conference season. Not so this year. These first two games will be very telling about the individual coaching squads' ability to make in-game adjustments to what they see happening on the field. By the third game of this shortened season, there should be enough opponent film to be able to discern tendencies and plan for them.

True we have some new coaches.

The bowl schedule is official. A few bowls (Quick Lane is one) are taking the year off so that might have some impact on how many MAC teams go bowling.
