You can make the case Werts has done more with less than other on your list, his problem has been things out of his control, poor coaching, less talent to work with, especially on the OL, having to play much tougher competition, this ain’t the SoCon. I get that winning trumps all in the hearts of fans. but man this kid represents everything you want you qb be in terms of leadership and effort.

I know Ham is considered the all time fan favorite, but something is wrong with you guys if Werts isn’t in the top 2 or 3.

Werts is a great player and a hell of a guy off the field.....but there's a whole hell of a lot of QBs ahead of him in our history. And that's not a knock at him, we've just had a lot of good players.

Ham
Gross
Hill
Revere
Williams
Foster
Ellison

That's just a quick list. A lot of Werts' stats are a result of him being our only 4 year starter other than Ham (cause we haven't really had great offenses while he's been playing), but even then Ham was a much more dynamic player than Werts. I mean he's a HoFer....so it's an unfair comparison.

I dont think most of the guys on that list are doing much better than Werts TBH. You can complain about the OC or QB, you can't do both.

Not complaining, just saying where he's gonna come in the ranking of QBs.

Those players also had way stronger offenses around them, but no one qualifies what they did by stating that. No ont talks about Greg Hill not being a hell of a QB because AP was behind him on every play. They just say that Werts is no Greg Hill.

I'm not going to say what's wrong or right, but that's just the way it is.

But no, the OC, QB coaching, and OL coaching has not benefited Werts at all.

BREIDA / TYSON = WKIII / LUNSFORD

This is Tyson 2.0 but just a bit slower regression. Anyone not seeing this at this point is in the denial stage of grief at this point. I am at the acceptance phase..

Where you at?

1.denial.
2.anger.
3.bargaining.
4.depression.
5.acceptance.

Congrats to Coastal btw. The score is really not indicative of how in control you were of that game with a back up QB. I can only imagine what the starter would have done. Payton missed some easy throws and made a ton of bad reads.

Tip of the cap on the post-game celebration...btw...wow.

Not exactly the same.

Breida got lots of carries under Summers...the issue was the offensive scheme sucked.

Now our scheme isn't good but we're not giving carries to Kennedy.

Congrats to Coastal. The better team won yesterday. We held up fairly well until the 4th quarter when our D gave out due to our Offense accomplishing almost nothing. But Coastal had something to do with that. I really like Coastal s offensive plan

By the way theCoastal post game celebration was hilarious. We deserved it and if we don t want to be mimicked and made fun of we need to win. As they say to the winner goes the spoils

It was just a team having fun after a win. I don't know what "we deserved it" means.

App has allowed GS to beat us the last two years to ensure the demise of their program via the Shane McMahon wannabe.

I think Lunsford is safe for next year but the rumblings are beginning to get louder. Last year and so far this year we are 10-8. Yes that s more wins than losses but not where GS fans or our new AD expects it to be

Due to COVID finances, I think he does get another year barring losing out which is very possible. It is not going to improve though. We cant win with a four year starting QB two stud RB's and good receivers. With recruiting tanking the last two and now this year we likely are not going to replace what we have on either side of the ball with better players than we have now. We have to pray for diamonds in the rough with an inept coaching staff. I dont like our chances.

Things get complicated when a new AD is involved.

And this new AD has proven that he takes donor input very seriously. He’s very transparent and has addressed most every general grievance the fan base has had since he took the position. Very different from our last AD where disproval of his decisions was met with a cold shoulder.

I trust Benko to make the hard decisions we need to be making right now.

I'm so glad someone else outside the fan base that has watched us over the years can see this. You can't make most offenses work if you can't run it up the middle, let alone an option offense.

Traditionally we see defenses where the linebackers are all in our face right behind the LoS because they don't respect the passing game.

Now we see linebackers almost 5 yards behind the LoS and big cushions with the receivers and the only running production we get up the middle is JD King carries bodies for several yards.

The problem is we need a new OC and DC as both are inept, you think Chad has the ability to fire both? The OC maybe but the DC is a close friend. We don't move forward unless both are gone and maybe some of the position coaches as well. The defense constantly being torched by good passing teams it. It is all a moot point unless this staff commits to a higher level of recruiting anyway which I know for a fact it does not anyway.
