Troy opens as a 1.5 point favorite. This is generous.

Troy actually opened at 1 on Vegas, and has moved to 2.5. What does Vegas know that we don't lmao.

Computers and vegas like Troy. ESPN likes GaSt. Troy wins but against bad teams. GaSt scores but no defense. I dont bet but if I did this would not be my first one. My gues is shoot out and whoever has the ball last or wins the turn over battle.

Both teams so far seem to be a lot like last year's teams in spite of losing their QBs. I would honestly pick Troy here if it weren't for the fact State won the game last season.
I see a 42-28 type win for State.

I really don't know what to predict. I know Troy is better than the EKU score, they were definitely off in that game.
But Troy clamped down hard on Texas State, who despite their 1-5 record, should've beaten Boston College, UTSA, and had a chance to beat #16 SMU. The Bobcats aren't nearly as bad as their record would indicate, as they've played the toughest schedule thus far of any SBC team.
Depends on which Troy team shows up. The defense is definitely better than last year, but the offense has lost a step.

A close win does not bring about the motivation needed to right the ship. Nick Saban calls it the kiss of death: winning a game you should have lost, leads to more complacency. Georgia State, on the other hand, lost a close game, without their defensive coordinator who was in covid protocol. They will be chomping at the bit to come ruin our season. Based on what their offense did to Troy's defense last season, I don't have much confidence in a Troy victory this weekend. I want to agree and say the team was unfocused, but that's not enough to have to nail a last second field goal in a game where you were 30 point favorites.
As for Watson, the jury is still out. He has performed well at times, but I need to see more.

This is probably simple to predict. Does Troy like to run or pass? If you pass a lot, you win. If you run a lot, we win.
Our defense's front seven are awesome. Rest not so much.

Lindsey is more comfortable passing.
If your front seven can pressure Watson, you win. If not, he could pass you to death.
Texas State stopped our run game mostly, but couldn't get enough pressure to make Watson uncomfortable, so he passed all over them.

Here! Here! A Fun Belt shootout for sure. I don’t trust TROYs defensive schemes at all. Totally disjointed. Totally out of position. TROYs tackling is atrocious. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again where is coach Vic?

You and I must be watching different Troy teams.
I haven't seen much atrocious tackling. We're actually pretty good at it.
We might have some DB's out of position every now and then, but we are #40 in the nation in pass efficiency defense, we are #23 in the nation in deflected passes with 18 so far... and we also have a CB who is tied for #1 in the nation in interceptions.
That's not a sign of being out of position. You act like this Troy defense is a carbon copy of 2019, and it's not remotely close.

I would say there's some truth in that, and I have. But when I look at BYU and EKU, guys were no where near wide open receivers. This is a problem. Halftime adjustments were VKs break and butter, he was an absolute master at it. Brandon Hall not so much. This game will tell us a lot about where Troy's defense actually is.

Wait! Are you telling me that THIS defense is a Neal B. / Vic Ko. defense? You and I both know that Vic made Neal Brown a tremendous success while at TROY. I’m comparing this defense to that. I don’t care that we have a cornerback who has three interceptions. I don’t care that we have a middle linebacker who was on someone’s preseason watchlists. What I see our safeties and corners who are NOT near the pass. What I see are missed tackles on outside-the-tackle runs, UNLESS they’re running right up the middle. What I see are corners who continuously get beat or don’t attempt to turn around and look for the ball While it’s in the air. I distinctly remember seeing this types of stuff from the last few years of Coach Blakeney defenses.
Those stats you sprouted off, that’s all great. But, what’s the win-loss record of the teams that we’ve played thus far? With that, how many total yards do we give up per game? How many passing yards do we give up per game? What’s our total defense nationally? Knowing all that, you think that they are going to get better against better - more talented teams? As of today, THIS defense can’t stop anyone. When we play GASt, Coastal, ULL, stAte, AppSt offenses, its gonna be UUUUGLY. We had better put up a ton of points for any shot of win’n. A TON bro!!
We’ve been before. I Remember It Well.
