NCAA Proposal Says Transfers Will Be Granted Immediate Eligibility
How will this affect UAB?

Quote: Under the proposal developed by the NCAA Working Group on Transfers, athletes are afforded a one-time transfer during their athletic careers without suffering the penalty of sitting out a season, reversing a policy from the 1960s. Fall and winter sport athletes would have to notify their schools of a transfer by May 1, with an exception extending the date to July 1 for an end-of-the-year head coaching change or the non-renewal of scholarships.

It will affect everyone, to a degree. But with the high numbers already transferring, I don't think this changes much of anything. The danger here is rouge schools/coaches "recruiting" players from other schools. There needs to be a huge stiff penalty included for any caught doing it.

In related news, the NCAA will vote today or tomorrow about granting all winter sports athletes another year of eligibility (as they did with the fall athletes).

We have had a coach accused of that behavior in the past by multiple schools IIRC

At the G5 level it'll go both ways - star players may transfer to a P5 school and P5 players that aren't satisfied with their playing time will transfer to G5 schools.
