Since August - 70,000 Covid cases reported by colleges - 3 Hospitalizations, 0 Deaths
That's right, since campuses reopened for the Fall, 3 hospitalizations and zero deaths out of 70,000 reported cases by campuses (see data).

And yet we need all of these crazy lockdown and sanitation policies and impact on athletics? The covid-fear-hype is out of control.

But ... but ... but ... they will take it home to Grandpa!

I'm old enough to be a grandpa, and I don't want ANY 20 year olds giving up their freedom to protect me. I'm a grown man, I'll take care of myself. And if I become incapacitated, then put me in a nursing home and directly protect me there. Sheesh.

He cherry picked what he wanted to report, and left off a bunch of colleges and universities like the Colorado Mesa, Appalachian State students and the Indiana, Pa. college football player that died from this virus.

IUP player didn't die from COVID. App however is getting hit really hard now. A student that lived off campus has died from COVID.

The truth is, the statistics always indicated this would be case. This was why I was always against shutting down the games. It never made sense if you looked at the numbers.

RE: Since August - 70,000 Covid cases reported by colleges - 3 Hospitalizations, 0 Deaths
The App kid died from what his doctor called a freak neurological reaction to what they believe was brought on by the Covid. His doctor called it “a one in a million” type thing. Sad still, but not indicative of the danger faced by college students.

He had contracted the virus and gone home to quarantine. He cleared the virus and tested negative and returned to school, started feeling bad, went to hospital and died. So technically he was not Covid positive when he died, which explains why he wasn’t included in the stats.

Rather than allowing this minimal virus to run its course, our universities have chosen to try to stop it. The result is that many infected kids will go home during fall break, thanksgiving and Xmas. And more grandparents will die due to leftist idiocy.

+3 when I get to a computer.

I said this, either here or in a text to a couple friends just Wednesday.

Colleges, my alma mater included, post daily new cases in the U health center, then report off campus cases, then how many recovered and how many beds available in the quarantine area.

Currently 288 of 315 beds available, and NO new cases reported off campus.

Number of hospitalizations reported?

Yea, that’d be ZERO.

Spread the message around, folks. Spread it around. This is nuts.

There's quite a few leftist "bodies in the streets" types over on the AAC board who all stick together there and won't dare venture into this forum.

They'd take a beating on this subject so yeah, this probably started out there and was moved here.

Funny how the Left always does the same thing. Points out a statistically insignificant "well there was this one guy and that one other guy.....".

Case in point... that Ga. St. backup QB is now a celebrity because of sitting out this season.

Data is wrong. Purdue (which hasn't been hit as hard as many campuses) has 3 hospitalizations noted on its official site. My daughter soon may become case #4. She checked into the student rec center (which also serves as the covid testing site on campus) yesterday morning because she felt awful and was rushed to a local hospital later that day. She was given some IV's and antibiotics, and was thankfully released last night but she was still in the ER for 12 hours or so. Whether it's covid related or not is yet to be determined.

Additionally, I'd venture to say that most of the isolation spots on campuses are basic hospital set-ups. The students there are quarantined and/or isolated, and given some basic medical attention. Purdue currently has 57 (58) beds occupied out of 940 available spots. I know first hand too that students who are in this section of campus are given a hospital-like bill.

My guess is that campuses don't count hospitalizations unless (a) it's proven to be covid related and (b) perhaps they require a minimum number of days in a hospital to count it as such? The single-day check-in and check-outs probably don't count but I can let you know if Purdue updates that number. I'd say that from the Purdue parents facebook site that I've easily counted 20 to 30 parents who have talked about similar experiences for their freshmen students - a quick trip to ER and then a brief stay in the isolation/quarantine spot on campus until they were feeling better.

College students are more likely to have caught an STD than the Corona virus this fall.

FBO, sorry to hear about your daughter and hope she recovers soon. To be a hospitalization you have to be admitted to the hospital, which is different than going to the hospital.
