This right here shows what BS the whole system is. They’ve added teams from the Big 10 and Pac12 that won’t even play a game for more than another month.

You don’t understand, Wisconsin and Michigan had some amazing practices last week that vaulted them into the top 25.

RE: Week 4 Top 25 rankings: G-5 teams rankings shortlived (cept' the AAC and BYU).
Pollsters have some egg on their faces after OK and LSU stunk it up. It would have been one thing for a 3rd ranked OK to lose on the road at another top 10 team, or for OK to have broken into the polls around 18-20th and lost...but, that was not the case. Ditto for 6th ranked LSU. And both lost at home to middle-of-the-pack conference foes. Nope! the pollsters made a bold statement that OK was the third best team in the nation and they lost to a team that lost to Ark State. Now, I'm not one to play that if A beat B, and B beat C...etc... game, but still.

So now these same pollsters who badly fumbled the rankings on OK and LSU are trying to tell us that both Marshall and ULL are no longer Top 25 material. Well, if their opinion that OK is 3rd ranked material is an example of their reasoning ability, I take it as a compliment on behalf of Marshall and ULL that neither is in the Top 25 now. The pollsters appear to be very WRONG about other things...they could be (are!) wrong about this too.

Just my humble view of matters.

Hell even Tennessee dropped 5 spots after beating SC. Those programs in Eugene and Penn St must be putting on intrasquad clinics.

Marshall is actually 8th (AP) and 7th (Coaches) in ORV........technically speaking.

This doesn’t surprise me in the least. If we can go up to Boone and get a W and move to 4-0 it will be really hard to keep us out the Top 25, in my opinion. Furthermore if we can knock off a solid stAte and UAB team that would only help our résumé. Too bad Tech refused to schedule us instead of ULM...the fans hardly ever get what they want. That game, Louisiana vs. Tech, should be an annual home/home.

Frankly I’m more concerned with the Covid protocol. Louisiana had 11 key starters out vs. Georgia Southern and somehow squeaked out a win. With a full roster I’m convinced we are a legit Top 25 team...but this Covid BS is really tricky to navigate.

Fun while it lasted we knew the BIG10 return would push Marshall out, the postponed game didn't help, add to that off next week, I doubt Marshall gets another sniff at TOP 25 with an 8 game schedule unless a lot of P5 teams lose multiple games. Sadly Marshall doesn't have any more statement games on the schedule.

That's an understatement. Marshall has 6 games left on our schedule. 5 of those teams are currently winless.

Damn too bad Marshall couldn't have held on for a couple weeks...

would have loved to see Western get their 2nd win over a ranked team. Both being Marshall. And what could be Western's first win of the season.

I think we all know that any other year but this one, Marshall, UAB and ULL would not be sniffing the top 25, this early in the season. Just not going to happen unless you play and beat 2 P5 schools and one of those being highly ranked.

For a CUSA and SBC team to get ranked its usually in week 8 or 9 at the earliest. There's not any question about it that schools like Penn St and Ohio St and yes even LSU and the fact they loss at home doesnt change...

they should be ranked, without ever playing a down of football.

Doubtful. If Marshall continues to play angry and focused, we should run through this league.

I like this, it should give us a chip on our shoulder.

If Marshall goes undefeated can they claim a national championship like UCF did?

Don’t know if you saw the graphic cbs put up during the App game comparing our 1999 season to their big season. We were both undefeated,’our defense and offense ranked higher, and the last comparison was “claimed National Championship”. There’s said yes,’ours no. Thought that was funny.

Anyway, Marshall isn’t one of the top 25 teams with the other conferences coming back, so it doesn’t bother me we dropped out. If we had kept the Pitt game and were 2-0 with wins against them and App, I would see it differently.

Hopefully Conf USA can get a few games with these leagues since they are coming in late.

Pitt

@ ECU

how did that out of conference schedule look? That's what we had before this stuff went down.

Then we were forced to patchwork a schedule in one month after that. We were lucky to get a ranked App State team in Huntington when we could.

Still time to get some work in, we might play at BYU. That would be nice.
