I've literally complained about Biden's mental issues...

The issue is I find it more than ironic that people supporting Trump, who has his own set of mental competency issues to deal with, bash Biden for it. The lack of self awareness is STAGGERING.

Trump is a blowhard, and flubs the hell out of details.

Biden was always 'Slow Joe' --- whom has moved to a word salad that degrades literally by the week or month.

Kind of like comparing my insurance salesman friend Ralph and my great aunt Ruthie.

I think there is an enormous difference in the two aspects. Neither is a positive. I would much rather see Ralph as the executor of my will as opposed to Ruthie. Perhaps because I think Ruthie in fact needs a guardian ad litem herself.

But, progressives (and you) are more than free to think that Ruthie should be the executor of my will as much as Ralph can. Free country, free choice in beliefs, and all that jazz.

Have you listened to Trump speak? He suffers from similar issues as Biden. He has a history of slurring words, not being able to remember details/facts correctly, not being able to pronounce words correctly, and on and on.

Trump has a history of word salad too - I literally can't believe y'all are trying to gaslight me on this.

If you need me to pull up completely unintelligible quotes from Trump, I can.

The two candidates seem pretty similar to me when it comes to age-related slowing of mental faculties. I don't think that either side should be crowing about the opposing candidate with respect to this issue.

I give those political cartoons about a 2/10. "Look, Biden needs a teleprompter!". Sort of on the nose...

Seriously. Trump's word salad certainly rivals that of Biden if not surpassing it.

On Trump's top priorities of a potential second term:

Quote:Well, one of the things that will be really great, you know the word experience is still good. I always say talent is more important than experience. I’ve always said that. But the word experience is a very important word. It’s an — a very important meaning.

I never did this before. I never slept over in Washington. I was in Washington, I think, 17 times. All of a sudden, I’m president of the United States. You know the story. I’m riding down Pennsylvania Avenue with our First Lady and I say, ‘This is great. But I didn’t know very many people in Washington. It wasn’t my thing. I was from Manhattan, from New York. Now I know everybody, and I have great people in the administration.”

You make some mistakes. Like, you know, an idiot like Bolton. All he wanted to do was drop bombs on everybody. You don’t have to drop bombs on everybody. You don’t have to kill people.

L.O.L. to the idea that Trump doesn't have word salad issues.

I am saying that it is ridiculous for right wingers to tee off on Biden for his incoherence/gaffes when their guy is just as bad if not worse. I don't want either of these guys as my standard for mental competency, thank you very much.

We're stuck with two 70+ old dudes, well past their prime, who both clearly have declining facilities. If they do debate each other, it's going to be a rather embarrassing display.

I dunno. Seems to me that while Trump's speech mannerisms have always been the way they are, Biden seems to be mentally declining before our eyes. But, yeah, both of them are really too old for the job.

I don't remember Trump meandering into word salad/nonsensicals back in the day. Watching him try to read a teleprompter or even speak off-the-cuff is painful. I don't read narcissism in his attempts to express his thoughts... I read mental decline (which will happen to all of us at some point). The same goes for Biden, IMO. We deserve better choices for both sides of the aisle.

So which of those words are unrelated and random? Each one of those paragraphs stays on point. Even the three paragraphs are relatively related.

Word salad is more like random words put together than mean nothing. Banana chipmunk over pasta. Ride the wave, man. Keep the top on the ketchup.

I'm not suggesting that you have to believe that Biden is compromised. At this point, none of us would know...

What you presented here as evidence of your claim is prattle. It is not word salad because it is all relatively on point, nor is it indicative of alzheimer's as it shows no indication of using the wrong words... forgetting words or people or places that he should remember... flubbing over words... goes back and corrects that word...

Everybody does it sometimes... especially those who talk a lot and especially those who repeatedly answer similar questions... but spend some time with someone you know who has it and you'll recognize the difference right away

The reality is that even the left media over the past year or two has asked. This is not something that the right just came up with. Trump has absolutely been accused of loving the sound of his own voice and speaking without thinking first. The 'word salad' deflection has only recently started.

Rather than address it or ignore it, it gets deflected to 'whatabout Trump'?

I think Pence/Harris will be a very entertaining debate, personally. Harris obviously has the attack-dog mentality, but that may backfire against Pence's "cool as a cucumber" demeanor, a la the Kaine/Pence debate four years ago, where Pence was generally considered the winner / more comfortable on stage. I think that Pence's cool demeanor is going to play an important contrast to what will probably be Trump's usual bombastic self in the September debate.

The word salad has been an issue for a while now - stop gaslighting by saying it’s new or arguing that it isn’t really “word salad” (which is a funny tactic),

From 2015, on Trump’s incoherent ramblings:
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.washing...Type%3Damp

From late 2019: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.busines...9-12%3Famp

From early 2019: https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.usatoda...3404007002

And this is just from a quick, cursory Google.

It's a funny tactic to use the correct term? Hmmm. That's a funny tactic to complain about the use of the correct term.

I was responding to what you quoted. That is not word salad. It is certainly something, but it is not word salad.

Word salad is associated with schizophrenia.... which is whole different from Alzheimer's. It involves random, unconnected words that are mostly meaningless. Not words that aren't important, but words that don't make sentences. You did not present a transcript of random, unconnected words. You presented a mildly rambling speech.

Quote:From 2015, on Trump’s incoherent ramblings:

I can't read the Post. Apparently their 'posts per day' is zero.

Quote:From late 2019: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.busines...9-12%3Famp
Same with BI, Ad blocker

From early 2019: https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.usatoda...3404007002

And this is just from a quick, cursory Google.

The last one similarly isn't word salad.... and it's an op ed, It is as it claims to be, evidence of dementia, not schizophrenia... I note that they said that doctors wrote to his doctor suggesting he be tested for alzheimer's, and he was and passed... so just as you and i both suggested as to why Biden shouldn't take it, they come back with... well, that wasn't the right test.

Bottom line, you didn't present evidence of word salad. It may well exist, but that wasn't it.

The 2015 article is interesting. I'd like to read it. The other two are fairly recent. I've seen articles talking about Biden doing this for years.
