OT: CSNbbs Team Talk Posting Activity
Ok, yes I'm bored but curious...I always thought our Bearcat Banter board and Memphis' was a pretty active bunch of fans based on the number of posts/threads made. Just doing a check of the activity around the CSNbbs team boards revealed the following "snapshot in time" with over 100,000 posts [number of threads]:

1,378,657 [9,305] - MemphisTigers.org [this is just for their sports forum alone]
388,631 [14,958] - Northern Illinois
362,061 [9,305] - Bearcat Banter
322,620 [6,245] - James Madison
291,461 [8,337] - Rice
281,319 [5,439] - Old Dominion
240,872 [12,190] - Western Michigan
179,124 [9,676] - Toledo
130,088 [6,381] - East Tennessee St
114,465 [24,120] - Arkansas-Little Rock
109,533 [6,615] - Eastern Michigan

Questions:

1) Notably absent are any P5's. Are we just a bunch of "frustrated housewives" with nothing better to do? LOL.

2) I assume some of this has to do with the number of years a particular team board has been active? The number of alternative team web page forum options?

3) What does this say [or not say] about University of Cincinnati fans?

4) What the heck is up with Memphis Tigers Nation LOL?

RE: OT: CSNbbs Team Talk Posting Activity
The elite power P5s are very active on their own teams Rivals sites. They also have a couple individual sites that are very active. Rivals always did a good job covering the P5 schools while ignoring the rest. This board always had a lot of old guard CUSA traffic. If I recall Memphis had a lot of people that migrated here from another board that shut down.

As for UC, our rivals site has always been weak. In addition there are people that refuse to pay for Rivals or 247 for content, thus they post here.

Edit: Regards to P5, as you would expect some of the Lower tier P5 do not have a lot of people posting online. As an example whenever we Bowl or play a P5 school OOC I search for their message boards. BC has a couple active boards but the posting was scant. This gives me the indication they do not have a very engaged fan base.

That may be the only forum that is used by Memphis fans. Which I think is a good thing. There are a lot of UC fans that use bearcatnews.com which has ~250,000 posts.

I for one like the interaction with people from other schools that this offers.

I think the P5'ers are rather uppity and prefer just to stick with themselves. No one else is good enough for them.

I totally agree, the AAC board occasionally turns into a p i s s i n g contest, but is generally a good source of information.

I don't know, man. It used to be okay, but it feels like clickable brain cancer anymore.

Most UC fans post here, 247 or Twitter. There is Bearcat Talk but that is mostly all just UC hoops.

CUSA talk was the forum about 16-17 years ago pre-BE days. The board dissovled, and that is why UC and Memphis fans migrated here. The AAC board is pretty fun sometimes as well. I prefer this place to the 247 site, as they take their sports message board way too serious over there.

The original board was a free one hosted on voy.com. There are posters here who go back to the voy days.

BearcatNews is still active and people post fairly regularly. I requested an account a few years back and it took seemingly 6 months for the moderator to see and approve it.. something about all the account requests getting sent to a spam file that was never checked. Some decent information over there but with the number of people on Banter, this is going to naturally be more informative.

Memphis fans can anticipate all they want, but the reality is that, institutionally, that university's profile pushes it down the list when conference member presidents have to vote inclusion. It's similar to the challenge Boise will face. It's what kept them out of the old Big East.

I used Bearcatnews exclusively from about 2006-2012 or whenever it was I started posting here. Granted I think it took about 6 months for people to stop thinking I was just a troll considering the online moniker that I have used for about 20 years aligns with the name of the forum.

I was about the same. The posting really slowed down on that site, so I moved over here, but they still do have good recruiting information.

That old voy board and BearcatNews were the two boards that I first started reading the content on...I have paid for accounts in the past on Scout, Rivals, 247 and Athletic (only active memberships are 247 / The Athletic).

I still visit this site and 247 on a semi-regular basis.

RE: OT: CSNbbs Team Talk Posting Activity
I posted on Bearcat Talk before I ever posted here. However, the post count started dwindling over there and I discovered Bearcat Banter. Over the course of a year or two, I slowly made the transition. I've probably only posted on Bearcat Talk a handful of times in the past year or two. They do have some good basketball recruiting info over there sometimes. I think I used to have a Bearcat News account, but was never active there.

These numbers aren't really accurate due to several mass migrations to archives over the years for various performance reasons.

Was about to say that...we had some behemoths before the last migration that probably aren't counting, as did other school boards.
