Apparently this does not affect men's and women's basketball as they are still scheduled arrive on campus tomorrow as previously announced.
I wonder if this is going to be CAA wide?

Not collegiate, but VHSL announced there will be no HS football in VA this fall. It may be cancelled, or it may be moved to spring, but we won't find out until the next meeting in a few weeks.

RE: What if????
Interesting that Wood brings up the idea of only playing in state. Considering the NCAA now allows athletes to play in 4 games and still be redshirted, perhaps ODU, UVA, VT & LU should all play each other. At least we could get some ticket revenue and likely some pretty good exposure (no pun intended). The question is can it be done safely, and would ticket revenue exceed the cost of game operations. And would the other teams be interested? Maybe we can get ECU or Maryland (out of state but nearby) on board so everyone gets four games.

The 4 game RS thing only works for those who haven't already used a RS. They only get one RS year to use over a 5 year period.
So this idea would end up with most of the team losing a year of eligibility for four games. No thank you, especially if I'm a student athlete.

Didnt realize that. I agree that I wouldnt use a whole year of eligibility for 4 games.

So old rule was 5 years to play 4. I'm not sure how exactly this < 4 games and not burn a RS works in regards to the 5 total. However, I doubt that it would allow players to play multiple < 4 game seasons and not count against their eligibility in some way. Guess I need to do some more research, or just wait on someone here to correct me :)

I'm sure you can throw all the rules out the window this year, assuming there will not be any real sports seasons.

Perhaps the Governor can mandate it like the short lived Governor's Cup in MBB (2011, 2012).

They needed to bring these kids on campus and quarantine the whole team and coaches for 14 days then start practice. Would have reduced the possibility of transmission. Cold have done it like Spring Training Baseball, pitchers and catchers report and then the rest of the players. So QB's WR's, RB's, and TE's followed by the rest or something like that.
You seriously believe these kids aren't out partying? It is not like the Navy, where you quarantine everyone for 14 days and then put them directly on the boat with no outside interactions.
I believe if a kid who is serious about football and who wants to play, will do what is necessary no matter how much it sucks. And it is the coaches job to enforce the rules. I mean the alternative is no practice, no games, no future NFL prospects. It is all about priorities.
I was looking for something else and stumbled across this. FTR, my priorities were seriously ****** until I was 25 or so. I hope things have changed but I doubt it.
