I mean, it's not a bold prediction.

If you look at how the discussion has evolved in the attendance poll thread, you will see that opinion has changed quite drastically in a very short time.

Not bold. I said the same about three weeks ago. I think a spring season is most probable.

I have come around to this too. I just don't see how it makes sense at a macro level. Sure, some schools might be just fine, but some will not. That is going to mess up conference races, national polls, everything.

If we play in the Spring I wonder how many bowls will have access to the facilities when they need them. And if we don't play the 2020 season at all, I wonder how many bowls go under.

Most importantly, if football and basketball are going on at the same time how am I going to attend everything?!!

I kind of agree with the OP, however Universities are pushing hard for in person classes and on campus living. Dorms, meal plans and parking are huge revenue sources for all universities. My daughter's school is sending out all kinds of promotions and discounts for campus meals, "sign up now!'.

If schools reopen, it becomes that much harder to say a student athlete is at a lower risk on a campus of 50k students than playing in front of 10k in the stands. It is even harder to justify if they go the route of no fans for games.

And not just a vaccine, but one that's readily available, has minimal side effects for most people and can be purchased without need of a second mortgage or your friendly neighborhood loan shark. So a spring megaseason would be nice, but even then, I will express equal measures of hope and doubt.

Just a reminder they still don’t have a vaccine for H1N1.

With the spike in new cases I don't see how they can hold camp as scheduled so how can they have a season? Plus if only one player on a team tests positive chances are that time is sidelined for two weeks. It makes NO sense to attempt to start a fall season.

If teams are smart and hold workouts in smaller groups that have close contact, the impact of any positive cases can be minimized.

For example, an Essendon player in the AFL came back with an inconclusive test result on Friday, June 19, as part of regular testing two days before a scheduled June 21 match with Melbourne. A follow-up test the next morning came back with a positive (just barely) result and caused the June 21 match to be postponed. No other games were impacted in that round.

AFL teams are currently training in close contact groups of no more than 8 players, and the league determined that only one other player in addition to the infected player would be in quarantine for Essendon's Round 4 match last week. All subsequent tests for the entire Essendon team have come back negative including for the player with the one positive test. All players were therefore available for selection to play in Essendon's match against Collingwood early this morning.

To be smart, coaches are going to need to mix training groups to not have all 1st team players and not all players of the same position group conduct close contact training together. If that can't be done, plan for a kickoff weekend in August 2021. A spring football season simply is not feasible.

It's not just practice, which players are roommates, which ones interact socially away from practice, they are still college kids it's hard to keep them from activities that expose them to carriers.

If college sports had a singular representative for each sport that represented the commissioners of the conferences then I would have hope. Right now it's just a clusterphuck with each conference and hell each school doing their own thing. No uniformity whatsoever and just hoping for the best is the image college sports is displaying at the moment.

I don't believe we have to wait for a vaccine to play sports but I do believe college sports, especially fall sports have to think outside of box if they want to play. Lincoln Riley (OU coach) said the Spring football is very doable and stated other coaches are resisting that notion because it's something they are not use too or part of the norm. Well, we're not use to dealing with a virus that hasn't been contained and spreading like wildfire. I think all options need to be thrown on the table and considered and not be closed minded.
