The way politics has cancelled sports is something that depresses me to no end. Politics used to be fought in a ring with spectators who could watch and engage if they decided to enter the arena. The fight has spilled into the stands though and this is not acceptable. All aspects of peoples lives are being destroyed by politics and it is not right. Rant over. Not endorsing any one side , just politics in general. This has gone too far

I believe that whether you shut down schools or businesses, making voting day more of a national event, and making it easier for people to vote is a good thing. This is why some people are considering moving election day to Saturday. Why do you think cancelling a few televised football games on a Tuesday night in order to encourage voting is a bad thing? Not looking to start a political argument - just wondering how you think this impacts college football negatively. I don't see how encouraging people to vote (by making it easier for them to do so) will destroy all aspects of people's lives.

This NCAA election thing is just an extension of other world events that are attempting to shut down our lives, all for politics. We are not children, we can find a time to vote and not have to cancel a college football game because of it. We have managed to survive for so long without politics dictating every part of our life on what we can and cannot do, why change now?

If they make election day a national holiday, and more people vote, wouldn't that be a good thing? What could be more democratic than higher voter turnout? Or do you not want a segment of the population voting?

I'm with you!! Besides that,by game time most people that will vote will have already voted except for those thousands of West Coast fans that will be watching our game instead of voting

Not saying that holding off MACtion on a Tuesday night in November would be the deciding factor in voter turnout. But if this country made election day a national holiday it would certainly increase voter turnout. Why would anyone be against higher voter turnout?

I never understood any sporting events happening on days we’re supposed to vote. Or having to go to work on a day you’re supposed to vote. Never made sense to me.

I think many working single mothers trying to make ends meet would disagree that she should have to ask her boss if she can take time off (as the company's only receptionist) to vote, or pay for a baby sitter $30-$40 and take a bus to her polling place to wait in line for an hour or more so that 358,000 people can watch CMU and Miami of Ohio play a football game.

Are you honestly saying that if you could make the decision, you would make it harder for Americans to vote so you can watch a MAC football game?

Instead of "we can find the time to vote," why not, "we can find the time to watch a recording of a football game in the next few days" or "we can reschedule one college football game.

And while you might think making it easier to vote won't affect national elections, it sure would local elections.
