Somewhere on one of these lists there needs to be some love for JaQuon Parker. That guy played much tougher and bigger than his size and ability.

Immanuel McElroy, Keith Gregor and Bobby Brannen would be in my top ten. Journeymen who worked hard. Liked watching all of them play defense.

McElroy was the best perimeter defender we had until Jacob Evans. I think Jake was slightly better because he combined with the incredible on the ball defense with crazy good help defense, but no perimeter defender could take out his man like I-Mac.

How do you define a "glue guy?"

My interpretation is a defined role player (specifically not a big scorer) whose contributions typically exceed that of which appears on a stat sheet.
They're typically good defenders, have a strong sense of hustle, toughness, and perform well in clutch situations when the spotlight is on them.

Initially, I expected Gary Clark to be on that list, but he was so damn good, he soared from a glue guy to a featured guy, throughout his career.

That's a decent definition. i don't know if i can put a numbered order but Jaquon, Darnell Burton, Rubles, iMac, Keith Gregor, Damon Flint, Terry, Shad, and Cedric McGowan.
i think there's a definite leadership component that accompanies the respect glue guys get which is why i feel less bigs are glue guys. imo, if a big is a leader, they are usually a star player.

Rashad Bishop did a lot of stuff pretty good. Didn’t excel at any one thing, but definitely did what was needed when asked.
Jaquon Parker was the same sort of guy. Titus Rubles as well. Can’t think of many examples from the Huggins era. Maybe Pete Micheal? Brannen and Keith Gregor and Pete Michael I suppose- and Jamaal Davis.

i think both these guys were higher than glue guy status. Pete was #2 guy on his teams, as was Justin Jackson his last two seasons, iirc. Titus was #3 guy but on the second tier below JJ and Killa.

Gary Clark-Elite role player
Jaquan Parker-One big reason the 2012 changed course from disaster to the NCAA tournament.
Trevon Scott-2020 team doesn't win a conference championship or even come close to without him.
Eric Hicks-Kept the 2006 team together.

Only parker was a "glue guy". Clark was conference player of the year on a 2 seed. Scott was first team all conference.

Bishop was the best perimeter defender in the country his senior season. He might have been the top overall as well. I love Jake, but I'd take Bishop over him as a defender 11 times out of 10. He was every bit as good as IMac, and there's an argument he was better given that year in the BEast...
