Yep.

I'm working today, will go out to eat for lunch, and then am going to the park with my wife and kids after work.

No panic here.

Yeah, the wife and I went out to eat last night. Enjoyed some solid Mexican food from our local spot.

We will be going to our local watering hole tonight to play trivia like we do every Thursday.

I would work in town if I had to today but I'm home like .osg every other day. You know, normal chit.

Still looking to catch it and get it over with so I can return to my regularly scheduled program.

That's the way I am. I've been told to work from home until furhter notice. Fine by me. I'll take precautions but I'm not going to become a hermit.

Took my dogs for a walk this morning. Runners and fellow dog walkers were out. Same amount of traffic as usual. Only difference: City workers were out cleaning up trash and weeds along one street. Like they do every couple months.

I have a feeling that in 20 years we are going to look back at this hysteria like we look back in laugh at the Y2K hysteria.

Precautions need to be put into place but the increasing hysteria is getting out of control.

If anything this should be a lesson that we need to decouple and get back to being more self reliant as a country.

Except that this has already had more economic impact than Y2K in far less time.

It's hysteria when every diagnoses/death is treated as NATIONAL BREAKING NEWS by the media. That's nonsense and only serves to make people nervous. The networks should know better, but they are just using those folks to make money so.......

I'm not gonna panic, but I'm also gonna listen to doctors and scientists opinions on this and ignore what anyone from the Federalist says. To be fair though I always ignore anything that the Federalist says so this is no different.

Also this is why I don't give any president too much credit or blame for the whims of the stock market. Policy certainly matters and can have a positive or negative impact, but this nonsense can just fall apart randomly over any kind of panic no matter what the underlying financial conditions are. Trump was taking way too much personal credit when the stock market was great, but this crash also has little to nothing to do with him.

I thought it was so funny when the ABC hostess said, "This is real now," after hearing Tom Hanks got it.

I like Tom Hanks and all, but its not like he's my next door neighbor.

Plus, he has to piss all the time.

Think about it...he has something with peeing in almost all his movies. League of Their Own, Forrest Gump...

BJ, what the heck are you doing going for Bernie? That last post of yours has made more sense than all of Davids, Redtom, and the Welcher combined. You're thinking like a Republican now.

Good post. Bill Clinton received a ton of credit for the market boom in the late 90's. Trump got a lot for the late teens. Both were probably over-credited for the success of the markets in their terms.

But I was literally sitting on the 40th floor of a building on Wall Street, working in tech finance, when the tech bubble burst in April of 2000. And Bush, who hadn't even been nominated as the GOP candidate bore the brunt of that mini recession from a political perspective.

Bush is remembered for a recession at the start of his term and for a near depression at the end. And he had nothing to do with either. The first started due to events that occurred prior to him taking office, and the second due to Democrat policies expanding credit to those who were not credit worthy.

The impact of the MSM is not minor. They have an outsized effect upon the world in which we live. They shape narratives; look at the current situation. Look at how many people still believe in, and lie about what Trump said about Charlottesville.

Honestly, the president only has a few tools at his disposal to actually effect the market in either direction.
