Any CBI/CIT/WBI teams?
Anyone think their team will accept a post season invite this year if they don't make the NCAA/NIT? I know GaSo turned down a chance last year to play in one of the CIT/CBI tourneys but would they again this year?

I’m believe with 21 wins we get NIT, 22 obviously gives us NCAA. If we get an invite to the others I hope we accept, we have had a decent season and would like to let the guys be rewarded with a post season.

I doubt we will play in anything other than NCAA or NIT. Our former AD said after 2 years ago playing in the CIT that we wouldn t do it again. TK is now gone and the new guy we just hired doesn t start until April 1 so no one here now to push to play in a pay for play tourney

In women's basketball, Troy and Coastal will both at worst receive WNIT bids. I think one of them goes to the NCAA Tourney though.

UTA I'm guessing gets an invite to the WNIT based on their RPI/record.

There's a chance Louisiana gets a WBI bid.

RE: Any CBI/CIT/WBI teams?
What are the costs associated with playing in the CIT or CBI? Do you only "pay to play" if you host? Do road teams get any expenses paid if they have to make a long trip? Little Rock had a chance to go to one of these tournaments, several years ago, but turned it down, I assume because of the cost. Just wondering how much money we are talking about. Luckily we don't have to worry about it this year, for a good reason. For the last 3 years, we were no where close to being considered.

CIT is $30k buy in
CBI is $50k buy in

CIT will be on ESPN+
CBI will be on ESPN2/U

Id be shocked if we get an NIT invite this year. Even with 21 wins (3 non DI) our NET and SOS are pretty bad.

CBI and CIT are possibilities if we want to pay to play.

I wish it was possible... but with a NET of 170 and an RPI of 145, there's no way South Alabama gets an at-large to the NIT. The best they can hope for is CBI or CIT.

I’m still living in the days where 20 wins meant something, and unfortunately it just doesn’t.

I'd LOVE App to be invited/accept a post season bid. The App women won the WBI last year. It was exciting to watch. The seniors on the team deserve to go out with a tourney if offered. I hope the school or boosters could cover the $30k/$50k

20-wins is still considered an accomplishment... the problem is we all play such terrible schedules.

I'm surprised to see the Sun Belt several spot higher than CUSA in conference RPI.

In the last five seasons the Sun Belt's RPI has finished above CUSA 3 out of 5 times.

So much for that talking point.

Yep. 20 wins mean a lot more if you're not playing 2-3 non-D1 teams. USA's wins over Pikeville, Spring Hill, and Mobile mean nothing. You're essentially a 17 win team.

We'll have 1 NCAA team, whoever wins the tournament.
We'll have 0 or 1 NIT teams, Little Rock if they don't win the tournament will be an NIT team.

TXST, USA, GSU, GS, and App are CBI/CIT teams if they choose to be.

We've played in the CIT twice in the last 3 years and have hosted both times so I'd assume TXST would accept a bid to one of those if we fail to win the SBC tourney.

Does it even matter what CUSA fans think at this point? We’re obviously ahead of them, punching down might be a bad look.

If App MBB can beat Texas State, they have a shot at 20 wins in NOLA, which I think could get us something and we've jumped at every post-season chance possible in the past. Jeremy Lin's college career ended in Boone in the CIT 10 years ago.

Finished ahead of CUSA in football, in basketball, and so far we're quite a bit ahead of them in baseball.

No CBI invites going out. Event has been cancelled due to over reaction.

No major sporting events in Washington state. No XFL, MLS, or MLB. Not sure if that means no games at all, or on fans. If this is limited to Washington state, I assume they will move home games on the road, for the time being. After that who knows. At this point, I find it hard to believe that the NCAA will allow fans at tournament games. Having thousands of fans travel across the country, sit in close proximity to thousand of others, and then travel back to their home cities and states is a recipe for disaster.

WOW.

There was an article from USA Today that was urging the NCAA to cancel the NCAA Tournament entirely.

Makes me wonder if it will really get to that point... how would cancelling such a huge event affect the multiple TV deals, sponsorships, pre-booked flights and hotels, venue leasing contracts, etc.

I'm wondering if events like this have insurance for loss. It would sure make sense. It could cover for loss of expected revenue, and possibly allow them to help out workers who will be out of pocket as well.

Although the insurance companies are probably experiencing a level 9.5 pucker factor right now.
