I'm not sure how other teams faired head to head (I'd imagine not well as the top 4 seeded teams are from the East) ...

Toledo beat Akron, lost to BG twice, lost to UB, lost to KSU twice, defeated Ohio, defeated Miami. That's 3-5 vs the East in total. The Rockets are 4-4 vs. the West with 2 to go.

Fans, Toledo is the West enigma this year. You clearly have a Big Three of players to be envied by the entire conference and you probably would have won the division, had injuries not depleted your depth. At EMU we are 2-6 against the East and that includes four losses to Miami and Ohio, favorable scheduling for sure. So between Toledo and EMU we are 5-11 against the East. Ugly.

Toledo's problem is they don't play defense. They have the #86 ranked offense per Kenpom, which is 2nd best in the MAC to only Akron. Their defense comes in at #237. To me that just speaks to me lack of effort and poor coaching. They should be much better than they are.

That didn't age well. 50-71 tonight ... 29% from the field and 20% from three. Knapke 2 points. M.J. 12.

Per Kenpom their defense is now ranked #243. The offense took a hit as it's now #108, but defense is still their leading problem.

Welp I'll take giving up 71 a contest. Scoring 50 on the other hand... Not very impressive

You're cherry picking 1 game because it fits your narrative. The numbers I presented look at the season as a whole, not 1 individual game. Toledo is one of the worst teams defensively in the MAC. This game didn't change anything.

RE: MBB Final week!
There seems to be 1 team in the MAC right now that statistical ranking systems cannot come to an agreement, with extreme volatility in the rankings...that team is BGSU.

In the Massey composites, BGSU has a best ranking of 55 and a worst ranking of 183. The standard deviation listed in the Massey composites for BGSU is one of the higher in the country. KenPom has a "Luck" category which I am not fully sure what goes into it, but BGSU is number 1 in the nation. What makes this BGSU squad so hard to figure out, are they closer to that 183rd ranking or closer to the 55 ranking? I have got them in the lower 100s right now

Kenpom luck is pretty much how a teams actual win-loss record compares to the expected win-loss record based off of his metrics. In the season as a whole they're 21-9 (2nd best overall record in the MAC), but are 9th in the MAC in scoring margin at +1.8 ppg. In conference play they're 12-5, but actually have a negative scoring margin of -0.9 ppg. They're a combined 10-1 in games decided by 3 points or less and/or games that went to OT for the season and 7-0 in MAC play.

Any results based metric (wins/losses) is going to like BG because of their win/loss record. Any metric that looks at offensive/defensive efficiency isn't going to be as high since BG wins a lot of games by close margins and the majority of their losses have been by double figures. In reality they're somewhere in between the two.

9 mins remaining at Bowling Green and a solid game here. Buffalo leading 66-63. Lots of momentum swings.

Ohio-Central and Eastern-Kent most interesting first-round games. Road upsets possible in both.

EMU looked horrible tonight. If bet KSU by 20.

I think the writing is on the wall, fans wont be admitted to Cleveland. This corona hysteria generated by media is beyond ridiculous, and its working for them, they are succeeding in crippling the nation. Complete over-reaction. Expect large events to be cancelled in large numbers early this week.

the media is certainly hyping the disease. however, it is a serious contagion. if it hits an unprepared nation anywhere it can cripple it. however, you don't need to shut the country down. life can go on fairly normally. you need good protocols, safe quality quarantine living situations. better travel screenings with temporary national travel insurance. emergency paid sick leave for those without benefits to everyone in the country regardless of citizenship, insurance, papers, whatever to make sure people living check to check or in overcrowded impoverished living conditions don't spread the disease. if you handle it properly it won't spread much and 98% of those sickened will survive-most of those with no more than cold symptoms and a new level of immunity. if you have infected people going everywhere especially into congested spaces you will have major problems. so, the hysteria is unsettling and mostly unnecessary. but we are not preparing fully and inviting it to be worse than necessary, which is the real story. i think you can still live as usual. but everyone needs to be informed and vigilent. and there should have already been a national plan implemented to incentivize compliance with medical screenings and self quarantine in the best possible temporary living situation. and the cruise ship industry needs to take a hiatus. one sick tourist can infect hundreds of staff and crew living underdeck in close quarters. and even a possible case is going to force terrible quarantine situations that will cause outbreaks on ship. cleveland can still go to the game if the nation contains the inevitable pockets of infection that will pop up as long as the disease is still spreading worldwide. people who don't feel well should go home or better yet to a convenient free health screening. healthy people or people with illnesses or health problems that aren't contagious should go to the game.

As long as an outbreak doesn't happen between now and next week in the Cleveland area, I don't see them cancelling.

i don't think it will be cancelled, it just will be played with no fans allowed to enter. I think pretty much every large event is headed in that direction due to the media frenzy

These are good points, but I just don't see this as any different than a normal flu unless you are elderly with pre-existing health conditions. It is going to shut down the nation though, just as the media is desiring. It is chilling to me just how powerful the mainstream media is, the power is IMMENSE

The difference is that the population is immunologically naive to Covid-19, so the infection rate without taking any measures could easily be 5-10 times higher than with an annual flu, which translates to an even bigger multiplier on intensive care cases and fatalities, since it tends to have a higher rate of both than the newly evolved strains of annual influenza in a population with substantial partial immunity built up.

So if the flu took out 12,000 last flu season, 60,000-100,000 would not be surprising and 200,000 or more not outside the realm of possibility. 60,000 would be roughly the Wuhan death rate so far scaled up to the population of the US, and after fumbling around for a month for political reasons, Wuhan adopted far more extreme mitigation measures than are likely to be adopted in the US, so projecting from Wuhan can easily be on the low side.

Luckily we have a President that took early action with the travel bans from these source regions. That thinking ahead may have saved a few of the elderly here. I am convinced this was developed intentionally. Overall though, I just do not see this as a big threat to the every day American, it is just a political tool used by elites to make us think we need government. They have the media on their side, and they are succeeding by scaring people. It is ridiculous. Media and political figures actually rooting for a virus to kill people, just wrap your head around that, just sobering.

thank you.

and for those of us who have worked in media. you have basically 2 kinds. those who really care about journalism and reporting and those who care about ratings, ad revenue or fame. there is no secret society of media collaborating with government to control society, geesh, get a grip.

turning the subject back to MAC basketball where it belongs...

did you know OHIO erased a 10-point deficit with 3:10 to go in the game Friday night against miami by going on a 14-2 run to end the game and beat the redhawks for the 113th time in series history? now, THAT is something to talk about, am I right? LOL 03-lmfao02-13-banana
