Do they provide the pre-season beta rankings from prior years? Just curious how accurate the model has been in the past.

Yeah, but that is what happens. I would think in the 20's to even a low 30 would be more appropriate. Most of the other ones look within reason.

A lot of these are predictive based on returning production, and Mike Warren left...so by their own metrics, we should be low...what they're not rating is that Doaks was actually more effective than Warren in some games, we return Chuck McClelland, and we get a burner from Alabama. I get why we're lower than we should be at least.

Does a premature ranking matter? I'd rather UC fly under the radar and catch its opponents unaware.

You're not catching anybody in the AAC unaware, lol. And you're not sneaking up on Miami Ohio. They live close by.
You shouldn't need to sneak up on Austin Peay or Western Michigan. That leaves Nebraska.

Tulane is apparently going to collapse according to this model. The only real issue we have is at QB - and we may be better than last year at that position.

Wrong answer. Bearcat fans should clamor for attention, it’s how an American team gets preseason rankings and can move up to quality for a NY6 or heaven forbid a playoff spot. UC is too far along to play possum, time to play lion.

Agree. Bring it! Our coach put the stiff arm to Michigan State and we have a top recruiting class coming in. We're gunning again for the conference chip and NY6 this coming season and ready to take on all challengers. What I care more about is getting a Top 25 AP ranking to begin the season.

Seems like Cincinnati and Memphis should be knocking at the Top 25 door. I expect SMU to be good again if they can get running game going with our two Redshirt Freshmen.

The problem is Nebraska can't afford to fire their home boy with the record that is less than Bo Pelini. Nebraska is stuck with that decision.

Okay.
So for starters we return as many as 16 starters. We steamroll USF 48-21 at their place, and no offense but it wasn't even that close, and they have a new coach and they are three spots ahead of us.
We beat Houston at their place and lost to Memphis and Navy each by a play and they are all ranked significantly higher than us, despite us having answers, at least on paper, to the holes we have coming in.
Got it.
Jesus I hope the coach is posting this crap on the walls for motivation.

UCF #2?
Keep that thought AAC. UCF is going to be a force next year.

I agree, minus the hyperbole.
My unofficial ranking would be Memphis first, with UC, UCF and SMU all close behind in some order. Then Navy (they lost Perry). Then USF and Houston in some order, and maybe Temple after that. Tulsa, Tulane and ECU in the rear in some order.
I think the AAC title is wide open to the top 4 or 5, with USF and/or Houston maybe making a difference to the order of the final standings.

I laugh at this model and your predictions. UC extremely underrated and Tulane as well. Tulane will be better next year and has a better schedule. Navy & Usf are too high.
