RE: Bubble Watch 2020/02/21
like i thought last night, the bottom of the bubble has shrunk....

A lot of huge chances for teams not in right now this weekend-
Purdue vs Michigan
Providence vs Marquette
South Carolina vs LSU
Memphis vs Houston
Tennessee @ Auburn

Georgetown with a total must win IMO. They lose to DePaul and it's not going to be pretty.

Agreed. They need every win they can get. DePaul is a solid team according to NET, but losing to a team that has such a poor conference record never looks good

yeah. feel like UConn would have been on this list but then last night happened(and I just knew that would happen).

a team that must be like #81 right now is UCLA. They're quickly building something there. Still have a few chances left too.

I've liked DePaul since the 1987-88 season and Georgetown for only a handful of seasons. But I'm pulling for the Hoyas this weekend — strongly.

* I am fortunate to have cheered for Vanderbilt, Memphis, Indiana, DePaul and North Carolina since 1969, 1970, 1986, 1987 and 1995, respectively.

GT winning is good for the league in terms of solidifying them as a tourney team... but that would likely be the dagger to make Depaul a Q2/Q3 opponent, which also hurts the league as well. Hard to say what is better from my Marquette fan perspective.

only thing is the league has so many Q1 wins, that DePaul falling off probably doesn't hurt much.

Marquette has 5 Q1 wins right now, and hasn't played @ DePaul.

A kind of sleeper team Marquette needs to have win some- USC. They are #44 right now and Marquette played them neutral court- so top 50.

Really sucks Akok went down. We had that game last night with him, just didn't have any athletic bigs once Whaley got in foul trouble.

At this point, I'll be happy getting to 20 wins on the season and beating Houston for a 2nd ranked win on the year

well, I think VCU you can pretty much stick a fork in them.... they're losing by 18 to SLU tonight.

I did not foresee SLU winning by 18.

VCU is likely toasted for the Big Dance. And I know what that feels like.

huge win for Providence. Now if they can beat Xavier and DePaul last week of season, they should be in....

For Marquette wow. 3 losses in a row. careening to a 8-9 seed in the NCAA tourney. Heck, they might be a 7 seed in the BET the way things are going.

Other than Howard, we have no consistent options on O. We also couldn't compete with Providence's rebounding and toughness.

Love Cooley. Wish our MU teams were as tough as they normally are.

The Prov vs. MU score at the half surprised me. Providence still has a shot at the dance (though it might be modest).

GU at DU looms. Will be curious to see the attendance.

Saw on Twitter: in the past 120 minutes of past three games (Nova, Creighton, Providence) MU has led just 3 minutes.

Alarming similarities to last year. They need to right this ship quick.

not a good weekend for the A10 at all. VCU got killed, and Rhode Island and Richmond took bad losses as well....

brutal loss for Georgetown....

league now has to hope DePaul doesn't right itself right now- as their next game- Xavier.

Watched the last eight minutes or so of the GU vs. DU game. Yes, the loss was "brutal" for GU in that it greatly harms the Hoyas' tourney chances. But playing on the road against a desperate (and still talented despite all the losses) Blue Demon team and with MM still out and Yurtseven rusty ... I can see why Georgetown lost.

I don't think the BE is worried that DePaul is about to get hot and "knock out of Big Dance contention" one or two league teams.

But we'll see.

That is a statistic of note, indeed. Wow.
