MBB vs. Charlotte
Few things in CBB more fun than senior day when you've got the bench guys starting.

Crazy good offensive start against a good defense. 15-5 Rice with 14:30 left.

RE: MBB vs. Charlotte
27-10 Rice after a Peterson fade away and Charlotte TO. 7:45 left. These last few games have been a small sample size, but I think there's a chance this team has actually turned a real corner. Even the ODU game, for how poorly we shot it, was a one-possession game.

29-15 Rice with 4:33 left. Game has turned sloppy. Rice with three straight travels.

Student section looks pretty much empty. Maybe some come and sit on sides?

RE: MBB vs. Charlotte
33-22 after a Rice TO and Charlotte break. I really don't like the offense with both Moore and Mullins on the court. Nowhere near enough spacing and neither is a threat off the dribble.

RE: MBB vs. Charlotte
36-22 Rice at the half. Zone looked good, though we're still too often late closing to shooters in the corner. Peterson with 12 (but also 4 TOs), Adams with 6 pts and 3 assists.

Game by no means over but a good half against another top half CUSA team.

5 straight for Rice to start the half makes it 41-22. Both Mullins and Parrish with drives.

Adams nails a 3 and it's 44-22. A mix of some good offense and Charlotte not being able to hit anything.

51-38 and a Rice TO. Really bad stretch for Rice with Charlotte getting better defensively.

RE: MBB vs. Charlotte
Really solid effort - happy for the seniors (and it appears some of them get to finish the game too!).

Looks like USM might win at home. Right now UTEP is losing. If those two games finish that way, I think we'll be tied with USM for 11th but they'll have the tie-breaker over us. But at least we should host them and that will allow us a chance to tie them in head-to-head games.

My guess is we'll host USM and UTEP, and then play UTEP and MTSU on the road. UTEP is really struggling these days - I really don't know what happened to them. I thought they had some talent this year?

ETA - just to expand on why that's important - we're 5-9 in conference play. UTEP if they lose will be 4-10. MTSU is like 2-12 after today. Whomever is 11th (probably USM) gets to play MTSU twice. So that might give them a decent shot at an extra win. But honestly if we play well, we can win any of the last 4 games. Making the tournament might come down to beating UTEP at their place - or possibly going 2-2 in the final 4 as long as one of those 2 wins is over UTEP (if UTEP loses today and then also goes 2-2 in their final 4). And even if our conference record ends up better than some Pod 2 teams, we're behind them in the standings that determine the 12 teams going to the conference tournament.

Rice wins 70-54. A pretty complete effort against a decent team, even if it's one that struggles on the road.

Martin 15 pts, 4 reb
Adams 14 pts, 4 ast
Murphy 5 pts, 5 reb, 4 stl
Peterson 16 pts, 7 reb, 6 ast, 8 TO

It's also worth noting that's win #13 on the season, which ties our season total from last year. I know some folks are disappointed with a Pod 3 finish, but this is a better team than last year. And our win-loss total is more than likely going to show that.

We're 3-3 against Pod 1 teams this year BTW. And 1-4 against Pod 2 teams. And 1-2 against Pod 3 teams. Unbelievable.

MBB vs. Charlotte
Maybe we’ll get a 12-seed to Frisco so we can play a pod 1 team in the first round

Should wind up better than .500, could win as many as 16-17 games which is a few off my 20 win prediction but not too far. Still probably the best Men's sports team this year at Rice.

Cross Country was pretty good, but yes, among the big 3.
