Trump at the prayer breakfast
https://www.realclearpolitics.com/articl...42336.html
Relatively unfiltered look at the President's thinking through his comments at the National Prayer Breakfast.
"...Love your enemies? He made them run the gauntlet.
“I don’t like people who use their faith as justification for doing what they know is wrong,” he said, and everyone knew he was talking about Sen. Mitt Romney, who told reporters that his religious faith compelled him to consider impeachment through the prism of the oath of office he took to defend the Constitution. “Nor do I like people who say, ‘I pray for you,’ when they know that that’s not so,” Trump continued, referring to Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who was sitting just two seats away and who had ripped up his State of the Union address on prime-time television two nights before.
“So many people have been hurt, and we can’t let that go on,...."”

Trump was right, and it was the correct venue. You dont use "I prayed to God" to justify your politics, especially impeachment.

Because clearly Jesus would have taken the same course of action in that setting...so naturally dems would be against that.

I have no problem with him fighting back. Im disappointed he chose this avenue to do it. This is what bothers many people about the man...not his policies.

You mean like when Democrats turn a funeral into a campaign rally? Its a group of partisan politicians getting together. Im shocked that it became political.
Why is there any expectation that you can spew hate, level false charges, disparage your opponent as a dictator/Hitler/Racist/mob boss/criminal and expect to be treated like a buddy? Does anyone do that in real life when someone is overtly and publicly trying to get you fired by calling you a racist and constantly trying to accuse you of criminal activity? lol....In the private sector that would be grounds for a great hostile work environment suit.
I think the Democrats, with the media backing them up, have always assumed that they could get away with rhetorical murder---while the Republicans have been forced to play by a different set of "be polite" rules in order to avoid the wrath of the media. Trump blew up that rule book because he doesnt care what the media says. The media is "fake". Who knew that lableing the media as "fake" is all it would take (well that, and the media taking it so far it became obvious to most everyone they werent playing it straight down the middle).

I have no issue with it at all. To bring up another mans attempt to hide behind his religion in a religious setting seems quite appropriate.

What?
It was a prayer breakfast...sort of like a church. You know what this is right? It's not a place for politics or hate. And the NPB is not a partisan political event! Does this really need explained to you?

So, a preacher shouldn't include condemnations of religious hypocrisy in their sermons, got it.

I think it was appropriate to point out hypocrisy, all the Pharisees and Saduccees. So the part about Romney and Petulant Pelosi was ok. A prayer breakfast should not be hypocritical.
Now he went overboard and even he realized it.
But I didn't post this for criticism of the timing of his comments. I posted it for how those comments showed his general thinking.
