RE: #WeWantAllTheSmoke
I would love to know the ratio of coaches who are boastful and put a target on their players' backs (7 freshmen, 3 sophmores), and it turns out being a good idea.

Lasted about two years.
Not sure I can listen to much on that album anymore.
In fact, they shouldn't make anymore albums at all.
Master of Puppets ain't walking through that door.
Never was a fan.
That's too bad.
At one time Metallica was the heaviest band on the planet.
Their shows were incredible.
The pit was merciless.
I have seen them double digits live.
First time, 1986 Midsouth Coliseum.
Ozzy opened up for them.
Got to Memphis.
Parking lot was nuts.
The show was more insane.
By far the best show I have ever seen without a doubt.
Cliff Mfing Burton.
EDIT: Not including Grateful Dead shows
Speaking of Ozzie, that was one of the best hard rock/metal if you will shows I've ever seen. Zakk Wylde was phenomenal. My head banging guitar playing baby brother wanted to leave because it was so loud. All I could think of to say was huh?
I'm not saying Metallica wasn't good, I just never got into heavy metal all that much, hard rock was more my style. Now I just listen to old country.
We talking George Jones old country?
Jones, Haggard, Cash, etc and then throw in a lot of Hank Jr, Willie, Waylon and the boys, David Alan Coe. JJW, Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt, Steve Earle, Ray Wiley Hubbard etc for some Americana/progressive country. One of my all time favorites in that genre would be John Prine. Hell, I even like Kristofferson now. Two of my favorite songs are Desperados Waiting for a Train and Pancho and Lefty.

David Allen Coe
I had the good fortune to see him at the Iron Horse Saloon in Daytona for Bike Week in 2005. He came out all stooped over looking old as hell, he had who I think was his young grandson accompany him on guitar and that was it. He was fantastic and right in his element, a crowd of rough bikers. He started the show with a medley of Haggard, Jennings, Cash and Willie numbers and in each sounded exactly like each of those legends.

We had nerds trying to equate Josh not winning tourney games to how Coach K almost got fired at Duke. Penny is 14-5 in year two with NCAA hopes still very much in play and this is how it goes?

Calm down Turbo, I don't see anyone turning on Penny or the team. Well maybe one or two but they're idiots anyway. We can be critical and still support him you know. It's what fans do on sports message boards.

Yeah, I agree that a mod, especially one on the actual board he's tasked with moderating, shouldn't be starting posts like this one but once it was derailed it got kind of fun. There are some mods here, and in other forums, who are unimpressive as mods IMO and don't really need to be in such positions. If you don't hear from me for another month, or ever again, you'll know why.

Mods shouldn't start threads on the boards they moderate, especially threads belittling our team or coach. JMHO, Edit : But I respect you and your opinions and know that we can disagree on some things without losing that.

I actually back this 100% and am curious if he is the rogue mod randomly skipping the AUP and doing whatever he wants. Or maybe that is the other one.
It's not consistent, bias towards some good or bad, loss of core values of Memphis Tigers.
Make me a mod and let me straighten these issues out.

Excuse me, but that isn't how this works. Sure, I am a moderator, but I am a fan as well, who is heavily invested in the program and an alum of the university. Not going to apologize for starting a thread with our supposed #slogan for the season and us not delivering that.

I didn't say that's how it works, my comments were meant to suggest that someone in a similar position should exercise more restraint, perhaps just not in so many words, much like a judge with a conflict of interest recusing himself. Just because one can do something doesn't necessarily mean one should, IMO it's just not a great look. But hey, you do you and I'll do me and we can agree to disagree.
In hindsight though I will concede that perhaps I misconstrued the intent behind the threads premise and that I may be over-reacting a bit. I initially perceived it as coach bashing, something for which I know some have received bans.

Wow.
Wow is all I could say as well.
Half of these goobers still have a thing for Josh.
Meanwhile Penny has lost two NBA level players in James Wiseman and Rayjon Tucker (who is actually on the Utah roster and playing) from his number 1 recruiting class and has still kept this train on the tracks.
If he can coach this team to the bubble after losing DJ Jefferies then he has done a wonderful job through a ton of adversity, regardless of the opinions of some of our "fans".
