Rice offered Andre Henry back on 7/17/19 and I have seen him listed as both a combo guard or PG, depending on the source. 247sports lists him as a CG and the #255 player in the country. Lots of positive articles out there about his summer performance.
Gotcha, thanks for the info. Must have missed him because Verbal Commits lists him as a small forward(??).

SF Andrew Laczkowski committed to Penn. As far as I can tell, Rice only has 4 offers out right now:
CG - 6'1" Andre Henry (offered 7/17/19)
SG - 6'3" Jayden Stone (offered 7/5/18, his recruiting has blown up and I haven't seen anything recent connecting him to Rice)
SG - 6'5" Ricky Council (offered 7/16/18)
PF - 6'9" Reece Brown (offered 7/3/19, supposedly had official visit at Rice scheduled for 9/27/19 but I didn't see anything confirming that he actually completed the visit, I only make the distinction because his recruiting has really picked up the last few months with offers from Wisconsin, UNLV, Georgetown, and others)

Exciting times for these young players! Hooch athletes sign letters of intent to play at the Collegiate level. Cam Sheffield (Rice-Basketball), Katie Cavanaugh (Lenior-Rhyne-LAX) & Jasmynn Innis (Berry-Volleyball).

His brother Marcus played for Stanford and transferred to Elon this year as a grad transfer.

Keeping Sheffield is really big. He undoubtedly would have been receiving interest from bigger schools. Should be a very good player.

Sheffield and Murphy might be a very tough combination for many teams to stop. We also signed MylyJael Poteat today (the 6-9 big guy out of North Carolina).

Rice offered 6'0" PG Noah Hutchins. Rated 3-star on ESPN and Rivals. Offers from Wake Forest, a couple Ivy schools, and a bunch of other programs. Looks like he is a 2019 HS grad who is attending prep school and reclassified for 2020.

Interesting player. Definitely a smaller PG than we typically target, but he has that Max Guercy body type. Looks kind of stocky but still has a burst. Playing his prep year at IMG, which probably makes his recruitment more difficult considering any IMG team draws a bigger crowd of recruiters than a normal school. Looking through Twitter, he had a line of 21 pts, 5 reb, 3 ast (7-9, 5-7, 2-4) in one of his more recent games.
I'd take him in a heartbeat. Looks like he can attack and shoot. I imagine he'll have a college ready frame at the end of his prep year. Just a matter of how much his stock grows and whether he wants to go back close to home for college.

Yep, a few Buffalo fans on Twitter seem to like him. Should also note that he's putting up good numbers on an IMG team with a pretty good amount of talent.

RE: 2018-2019 Men's Basketball Recruiting Thread
Newest 2020 offer is certainly one of the more unique ones I've seen. JuCo CG Kendall McHugh out of the College of Southern Idaho. Averaging something like 11 ppg, 4 rpg, and 2.5 apg. Shoots it from deep at a 40% clip which is good, but doesn't look like he'd be a primary handler and turns it over a bit too much. Not too many Rice JuCo offers that I can recall, but I'm not opposed in the slightest to the thought. Just like I think we'd benefit from looking overseas, I think targeting a select few high academic junior college guys would be helpful.

McHugh seems like an interesting prospect. He's just a freshman so we'd have him for 3 years so that's a plus. And that program is normally very good (although they are just average this season). Looking through his high school stats, he seemed to be a late bloomer (in fact his JUCO stats are better than his high school stats were). I think he might be a good get.
A couple of JUCOs I remember at Rice were Kevin Rabbitt several decades ago (he and his wife Emily remain big supporters of Rice to this day). And then more recently, Austin Ramljak was definitely a highlight of some bad Rice teams. I'm sure there have been some JUCOs who didn't work out too, but those two were standout players and strong academically as well.

He's certainly had an interesting last few years.
It looks like he moved from Chantilly (Va-DC suburb), where he was regarded as "a heckuva player," to Santa Margarita (upscale LA/Orange County High School) for his senior year ... where he was an "under-the-radar prospect.
Search for ["Kendall McHugh" Chantilly] to see lots of his Virginia highlight footage.
Then the Santa Margarita coach, Jeff Reinert -- who'd played for New Mexico & Gonzaga in the 80s and was assistant coach at four universities (16 seasons) and head coach at Utah Valley (8 seasons) before spending seven years at Santa Margarita -- resigned to pursue college opportunities ... and took the HC job at Southern Idaho ... where McHugh joined him.
Kendall's father, Tomas McHugh, immigrated from Cuba to the Washington D.C area when he was 5, played baksetball at my high school alma mater (St. John's in D.C.), then basketball and baseball for VMI (1982-86). Kendall's brother, Taylor, played four years for Bryant.

Small world - Chantilly is my alma mater. (I only spent 1 year there - moved there for my senior year.)
Welcome to Rice.

You laugh, but that was one of our go-to bits of music in the marching band during games. (And we'd "sing" Chris's line, too, at the appropriate time.)
Pretty certain they probably don't use it anymore. The difference between playing a 1950s song in the 80s versus the new century makes everyone's familiarity a little less likely.

Then there's this Class of 2012 guy, a former Walla Walla Warrior, although he was before both of your times....
