Might Memphis playing themselves onto the bubble or worse? Before the last two games they were pretty much a lock. But these last two games put that lock into question. I'd say that the only two locks currently are WSU and Houston. Of course that could all change as the season winds down.

I don’t see Memphis as a tournament team. They are very soft and the coaching is atrocious.

Looks like the Tigers got an early start on lent and gave up basketball.

The Shockers have a good resume now but we still have a lot to prove. Rematch with Temple, @ Tulsa and Houston and SMU, Cincy twice, @ Memphis. We gotta play better or we could end up middle of the pack before it’s all said and done.

This is where Penny will make his money. Get these guys to move on and get back on the right track. They have the talent. They have a solid base resume.

Their original goals don't look as likely now but there is a lot of season left to be written.

I had wondered why so many national news outlets had the Tigers ranked so high at the beginning of the season just because of so many star players, even with Wiseman. Memphis fans and, I, even fell for it. But, slowly, we have come to see that it is not the top 10 program that we thought.

Now we get to see whether or not Penny is worth all the coin. If he refocuses the team and rights-the-ship, then we have one answer. If not, then we have the other.

Penny's got a lot to learn. Not about basketball, about coaching. It's a gamble we took, so we'll all see. Sam Mitchell's leaving didn't help. There's not a heavy on the bench now. I'll leave it at that. Penny's a little too nice ... This team needs toughness ... Hmmm !!

He cooks up some awesome eggs, bacon and sausage under that hot seat, the Omelets he serves are awesome, buttered biscuits and pancakes on the side if we'd prefer. I go for a warm bowl of oatmeal on the side while his seat is hot.

Served with some great cold Milk and OJ refreshments.

Memphis is a school of both FB & BB. No secret I'm a Tiger football first fan, and thankfully our FB program is at a top notch level right now. but also love Tiger BB (Have 6 BB season tix). Yeah we're going thru a tough stretch right now, playing 2 soph's and the rest freshman, but the ship will be righted, and fan support is still there bringing in 16-17k per game. Like Penny said, we're 14-5, not 5-14, not time to panic. We're gonna be aight.

Tonight's game on the road against a respectable UCF team will be a good gage for the rest of the season. From what I saw at the SMU game, I think our team is up to the challenge to beat anyone in the league if we can get the primary rotation down to 7-8 & get away from that switch everything defense especially when we have small guards on the floor. But Penny seems stubborn if anything, so we could well loose over half of our remaining games & miss even the NIT. We'll see....

Penny's learning that college basketball is more than just recruiting. You can throw good players out on the court and win most of the time in the NBA, but not here.
