How many years into the future will the American continue to have 11 FB & BB schools?
The opinion on the message board regarding whether the AAC should replace UConn in FB & BB/olympic sports before the two year NCAA waiver expires is split.
How long would you expect the AAC to continue with 11 member schools?
Options:
Until the two-year NCAA CCG waiver runs out in 2022?
Until 2023, when the first P5 conferences renegotiate their deals?
Until 2025, when the Big-12 renegotiates their deal?
Until the end of the AAC's 12-year broadcasting agreement in 2034?
Until a G5 or Independent FB or BB school meets all of the AAC's current criteria, as presented by Commissioner Aresco, and lobbies for membership?
Until the conference attains official P6/A6 status?
Until the number of AAC schools drops below the minimum number stipulated in the broadcasting agreement, thus voiding the contract?
Until the conference implodes, or merges with another conference?
In perpetuity, regardless of the circumstances?

we'll have 11 members until ESPN picks us a 12th member.

Very possibly so.
If ESPN does suggest adding a 12th member in both sports, it would be a sign that they're keen for their $1 billion investment in the conference to pay off for the next 12+ years.
If they don't, it might signal diminished interest in the post-UConn fate of conference.
However, after losing the MWC to Fox/CBS, it would seem more likely that ESPN would be inclined to see the American to grow at some point.

My take is that the Big 12 stays as is and the American adds a program (or programs).

Another thought, could the other conferences vote to get rid of divisions allowing the AAC to stay at 11 as long as they like?

Rumor in the Twitterverse is BYU & Boise to the American. I guess that means ECU is getting kicked out too.

we know that...but Texas and Oklahoma might be.
I mean, of course Memphis would want to 'hitch it's wagon' to a conference with TCU, WVU, Iowa State, Kansas State, etc

I can't imagine both schools ever coming here.

Like several of you guys, I think you guys will stand pat until Texas and Oklahoma flee the Big12. Then I think the Big 12 will add 4 of you and you will backfill with 5 CUSA 3.0 schools or 4 CUSA + App State.

Clearly, baseball is not being considered. Need to add Coastal and the Cajuns.

If TX & OK were to leave, the Big-12 might be more likely to take a mixture of BYU, MWC, and AAC schools.
The AAC would begin by trying to add MWC FB schools, or possibly merging with the MWC.
Otherwise, they might add App State (FB only). Buffalo would be a contender for all-sports. One or two A-10 BB schools (VCU, Dayton) would probably be added. A couple of other G5 or independent teams might be considered.

Top of the Big-12's list might be:
BYU
Boise St.
Houston
Memphis

Until ESPiN says so.
"Until the # of AAC schools drops below the minimum # stipulated in the ESPN contract." I would have voted for this but for this other choice:
"Until the waiver expires (2022)". So I did not vote.

The Big XII isn't changing, doing anything, because Texas and Oklahoma aren't going anywhere.
