Our future conference basketball tournament site is on ESPN2
First basketball game in the brand new Dickies Arena in Fort Worth. Looks like a beautiful arena.

Check out the Dickies Arena wikipedia page. Seats 13,300 for basketball and has a scoreboard that runs the length of the court. Wow.
Barring a complete collapse, Wichita State will bring at least 5,000 fans. They will make the place rock. For a title game, Shocker fans by themselves would fill at least half the arena.

Should have added, it may be so successful that the conference will leave it there permanently. That is what the Missouri Valley did with St. Louis. Been there maybe 25 years or more. There was a semi-final game there once between WSU and Bradley during the Turgeon years that sold out the place (18,000). The Shockers and the Braves both went to the Sweet 16 that year.

From the looks of the stadium, I would still prefer the BOK Center. Granted, the BOK might be too big for the AAC in terms of how many fans are expected (~19k vs 13k at Dickies) I just like the seating setup better at BOK.

Yeah, when I think the height of luxury, I think an arena in Ft. Worth, Texas. Home to the Ft. Worth Stock Rodeo.

I'm trying to figure out what the ESPN2 part is referring to? I know some of the games will probably appear on that network, but what does that have to do with the site?

1. I don't think the initial post had anything to do with the AAC being on ESPN2. It was just telling people to look at ESPN2 to check out what the arena looks like.
2. The initial post was on Dec 6th. It was brought back up today with a post about ticket information.

I wonder if the drive being cut down by 95% helps out too.

I was just talking the level of arena. I don't live in Tulsa anymore but I think it would be a decent host site as well. It's not like SMU is going to bring a ton of fans every season to that Ft. Worth arena. They bring 5K to 6K to their home games. I'm guessing the rest of the games between teams not named Wichita or Memphis will be relatively sparsely attended.

We've covered this many times on the board.
Drivable schools who also have an alumni presence in DFW. SMU, Tulsa, Tulane, Houston, Wichita, arguably Memphis.
Easy cheap flights, Cincinnati, Temple, the Florida schools. Especially with UConn leaving it is unlikely the tournament will leave the metro. I expect it will be the highest overall attended and average attendance of any AAC tourney.

Memphis and WSU will show up. Tulane can’t even fill their small arena at home much less bring a ton of travel fans. UConn will sit this one out unless their team goes on a run before the end of the season. ECU and the Florida schools aren’t bringing anyone. Temple is unlikely to as well. We might see a smattering of Tulsa fans maybe 1K cincy fans and 2K Houston fans (unless Houston ends up being an at large level)
