Way too Early
Football season not even over, yet we have from the Dallas News for 2020:
#19 Boise - Should win at least 10. Favorite for G5 Bowl spot.
#21 Cincinnati - Lose Warren, but Ridder's legs make up loss.
#25 SMU - Buechele and Roberson back, but new OC.
R/V Memphis, UCF - no comments provided.

Rather predictable, but who will be this year's surprise teams like Navy and SMU last year?

^^^Perhaps, but if you know the Dallas paper, you will know how little respect SMU receives from them. Could signal a change, however.

RE: Way too Early
Not sure where they're getting their info, but unless Boise has some sort of super class coming in, they're not going to be he G5 leader.

UC has at least their starting QB back, who may even get beat out by someone else who's better. Our OL is going to be much improved and the defense is getting back our best player who was out all last season.

We don't have O$U on the schedule and we get the Memphis that played Temple and Tulsa ...at home ... rather than having to go to their rat hole twice.

Losing Warren is tough but I think you'll find that Doaks is a more than capable replacement.

So they're basically putting us where we finished this year... but we're going to be a better team with a better schedule.

I predict UC, Memphis, and UCF will be the best teams in the conference. One of them will win the conference, my money is on UC or UCF. UC returns a ton and so does UCF. UCF was 7 points away from undefeated. I think Memphis slips a little due to losing Norvell, but wins the West.

I will bet you a $100 Memphis won't win the west.

I think Tulsa could be a surprise team next year. Or at least I hope we are.

If we fire our very own Monty Python beforw midway through and make our dc interim, then I think it's quite possible we go bowling.

Did UCF drop the next year when they lost Frost?

We probably prevented any real loss from Norvell's departure by hiring his #2 guy. And we return the great majority of our 2 deep team, including White, Gainwell and Coxie.

You will likely be bucking the Vegas odds.

Good. I'll bet you $500.00 Memphis won't win the west. And I'll give you 5:1 odds.

RE: Way too Early
the preseason poll will likely be (not how i think it'll be)

1) memphis- champs..white and gainwell return
2) ucf - 10 win season with almost no seniors..milton might comeback
3) UC- top 25 team, losses very few, 1 senior on defense
**-- boise would be here..after bad bowl game
4) houston-- if king comes back on hype...drop to 8th without king
5) smu- buechele and top wr back..but lose a TON to graduation
6) navy- losses star player perry --but people will put faith in ken
7) temple- also returns a decent core from decent team (all stars on offense, but takes some hits on defense)

Got to have ECU higher than 8th... Next year should see the most parity to date in this conference, probably 2 teams maybe 3 that separate themselves, but the rest will be knocking each other off.

I Can see as many as 10 teams bowl eligible or as few as 5 if teams don't take care of the OOC schedule.

SMU
Offense looks good to go on paper: Losses are Proche and X. Jones, but loaded at WR. Still RB ???
Defense: Needs to improve over last year, expect transfers from OU and Stanford, so far.
S.T.: Getting a transfer kicker from UT.
SMU doesn't play UCF, USF.
OOC: Expect 3 wins and 1 Home toss-up (TCU).
Home w/ Memphis, Houston, Navy, Cincinnati.
More favorable schedule this year.

fair assessment. I worry about playing UCF at there place.

I can't really muster up any heartburn over Navy being predicted to fall off. Perry was pretty special talent. Also graduating 3 OL (same 5 OL started ALL 13 games).

However, we're returning seven other offensive starters, we're confident in next qb up Perry Olsen (well, VERY confident in Ivin Jasper), and defense loses less and will still be on the upswing.

Schedule not terrible for us. 8-4 (5-3)

Memphis has to play UCF, that's a loss for them. Maybe Houston can keep their team from tanking/redshirting and win the west.

Memphis returns its QB, best RB, best receiver (Coxie), gets a very good TE back from injury & adds a 4* RB. Returns 8 starters from the defense & 8 starters from the offense. And returns most of the coaching while arguably improving its DC. I'm thinking Memphis will be stronger next season.

Doesn’t seem to be any resentment from UC in this thread. That’s good.

I think Memphis will be awfully similar to last season. All of the main pieces are there, and there won’t be any overhauls in offense or defensive strategy.

Easy money...wouldn't wants to take your food money. Memphis will be AAC Champs again.
