The bowl season has been a disaster. Beating Penn State would have probably put us close to the top 10. Losing a close game shouldn't hurt us too badly, but the teams directly ahead of us have mostly won or played it close.

We need for Auburn to beat Minnesota to stay ahead of them. The only other school I could see us possibly jumping is Utah. They are at #11 but got killed by unranked Texas and got killed by Oregon in their conference title game.

Iowa - Beat USC
Notre Dame - Beat Iowa State
Michigan - Not being beaten badly enough by Alabama...yet

So it looks like our ceiling will be #15 in the CFP and #14 in the AP. Still an amazing season to be sure, but it is a pity that Notre Dame, Iowa both won. We might make it a notch higher if Alabama scores a couple more touchdowns against Michigan, but that is about it.

Why? Cincinnati and Navy won't pass us. The only other school that can is Appalachian State, but I doubt that they do.

Cincinnati has even more coming back than we do. If they beat Boston College we should both be around #15 and no worse than #20 to start the season. Losing to 6-6 Boston College would be a disaster for both of us. It will drop them and make our wins against them worthless.

I don't think so...this will make our 2 wins look much better plus win over Navy to still keep us in Top 20.
