Guess now is as good a time as any to start a new controversy. They now claim the name "Dixie Highway" is racist:

Only a matter of time before it wanders up here. While we're at it, should we tell the Dixie Chicks? How about banning the song "Dixie"?

Everything offends someone...we should just stop naming things after events or people and use generic terms...that way history is erased and nobody is offended by naming conventions.

You know life is pretty good when you have to manufacture problems.

No end in site for this stuff. This is why you don't cave to the few rabble rousers that create this nonsense. Progressives never stop, it is always on to the next thing.

In my long and undistinguished life I have known (not in the Biblical sense) 3 women named "Dixie". They have all since passed. To maintain political correctness are the names on their headstones to be changed to "Freedom"? When will this insanity end?

Where is is written that the racial and gender ratio of any body has to be in the same proportion as the racial and gender makeup of the general population?

See--this is where language matters. Words like "threatened" and "phobia" and "afraid" are meant to denigrate opposition to something that isn't based on fear at all. If you were to poll those opposed to the PC virus spreading around the country, I think the top 3 emotional responses would be:

1. disgust
2. laughter
3. anger

No fear in any of these reactions...simply a normal emotional response to a situation created entirely by "the offended" and their sycophants.

For those so indexed to language, we might want to use the proper descriptives when describing the opposition.

These are issues that shouldn't you shouldn't waste your breath on and yet you act like their are an affront to your life. They don't negatively affect you in any way.

And see...this is where you are wrong...it DOES have an impact on the life of everyone in this country. By erasing and re-writing history, you are mis-informing subsequent generations of the lessons learned from it. This creates the unfortunate circumstance of having to repeat those lessons.

It's a crime against education.

How about the Cultural Revolution in China?

How about what Pol Pot did after the fall of Saigon?

History is FULL of events that should be part of a course curricula and are given short shrift by those who author the history texts.

The best solution is to avail yourself of many resources and not limit yourself to one side of the aisle.

Also, nobody but nobody is "celebrating" slaveowners. Don't make strawmen. We are acknowledging there existence as well as the fact that simply being a slaveowner was not the full representation of the life work of an individual (good and bad don't you know).

Those other aspects of history you mentioned ARE covered EXTENSIVELY in most college curricula. what's getting removed are the hated "white male" parts of history.

You need the WHOLE thing....not bits and pieces.
