Three or Four Things in One Thread
1. Today is a classic example of why we should never defer the opening kick. Take the ball and go score. Put the other team in the position of chasing points.

2. Perhaps the best offensive performance I have ever seen. We scored on every possession except the final when we went into victory mode/formation. I don't think I have ever seen a team score on every possession in a game. Awesome

3. Where is Clayton Cheatum? Have I missed something? Is he still on the team? How about Latrelle's status?

4. I hope we don't have to play on Friday night! Much prefer the 1 o'clock time in the daylight. But, if it is on ESPN 2 Friday night, I am sure we will get hosed and be the ones.

I looked for Clayton on the sideline and didn’t see him, not dressed at least. We will play Friday night.

Agree we need to stop deferring, our defense can’t start a game to save their lives.

Are there limits on how many players can dress or be on the sidelines during the playoffs? I was wondering about this before the game and noticed that the sidelines contained a lot less players than in the regular season.

Yes. Since these are NCAA games they limit the number of participants to contain costs. But, I haven't seen hide nor hair of Clayton in a while.

Friday is the best option weather wise, I'd take 35 and no rain over 45 and rain every time.

Disagree with 1. Getting the ball in the second half is huge especially if you are able to come away with points at the end off the 1st half

Friday night games have been some of our best playoff performances so I dont mind that at all

There is a limit for the travel squad, but not home team.

9.16 Squad Size
9.16.01 Visitors: 65 (This may be exceeded for one game per year, through notification to the conference office
in advance.) [Revised: 6/3/13]

Friday is the best chance to get a good student turnout. I am hoping for that. Dukes were great today after the rocky start.

Nope, there is a limit of 64 players in uniform for both teams in the playoffs, see page 13 here: https://ncaaorg.s3.amazonaws.com/champio...Manual.pdf

Pretty sure the text you have is for CAA conference games. The playoffs are different. It would be an unfair advantage for the home team to have more players available.

Thank you, I didn’t realize the numbers changed from regular season to postseason.

A number of other (mostly minor) things change also. NCAA regulates things like mascots, sideline personnel, and the famous "no streamers" at Frisco rule, made specially for us 01-lauramac2

I just hope the TV gods never again hire a color commentator who obviously doesn’t understand (or believe) all FCS players are D1. That Georgia ******* on the Monmouth/JMU broadcast who repeatedly made reference to D1 players transferIng to JMU was infuriating.

Have seen Clayton on the extra point teams all season. Has had some late game duty in some games also.

Met Latrelle's family during the halftime break at yesterdays game (also spoke to Latrelle, very nice soft spoken gentleman by the way). His mom said he was recovering well and would probably miss the next game but are hoping he would be back for the semis. He is doing well and hope he is back as soon as possible, he is a great weapon to have!!

Go Dukes!!

Did Latrelle have surgery on the ankle as someone stated in another thread or was it just a severe sprain?

Yup- very annoying. Like the transfer aspect somehow legitimized our team as powerful.

Two hidden gems yesterday.

1) Man is Polk is a great blocker.
2) Fornandel is improving by the year, and game. He's going to playing on Sundays. But the extra gem from yesterday is three different times he pulled, carried, pushed our ball carriers to first downs. That did not use to be legal, but now that is is he seems to be more conscious of it than anyone I've seen.

Right. Like we're cheating or something.

I think it was reported he had the same surgery that Tua had on his ankle earlier in the year.
