The Flop Rule
This rule is dumb on a number of levels. There are alot of times a flop isn't really a flop but looks like it. With guys that are big and moving fast, it doesn't take much to get off balance and fall down.
The bigger issue is refs suck at calling block/charges, and screw this up regularly. If they would just clean up the ruling and put in some extra training this could clean up alot better.
And then yoi have an incident like last night, where Vogt gets great position and had a wide open dunk blown away because of the flop call stopping action. They should mot stop action for the fiest warning. If I am a coach, and its the last possession, you could theoretically flop right before the offensive players makes their move to the rim abd get. the clock started over for free.

The Flop Rule
If they're doing to call a flop rule, it should be treated like a technical and only confirmed with a review after the play. Shots awarded, followed by possession.

Refs just need to stop calling so many damn charges and fouls in general. They just ruin the flow of games.

Well, yeah. Of course. That just goes without saying, right?

Honestly it should be like continuation. If they flop on a scoring move, the points should count and then the warning or technical. If it is just in the flow of the offense, then assess the technical and grant possession. So you either get the bucket and technical or possession and technical.

i agree. i've always thought charges should be the really clear ones, where you straight run somebody over driving, or put your shoulder right into their chest forcefully, or wait for the defender to set up and then put your elbow right into their chest like diarra the other night.
these last second slide unders get called incorrectly so often. the worst is when the offensive player makes an athletic move and barely brushes their hip. that should never be a charge, you weren't in front of them at the time of contact, you're inhibiting their ability to get around you by hitting them with your hip.

But... it was the baby boomers who gave me all my trophies. I'm confused.

I blame the Nippert Notches. This all started about the time they were created. Coincidence? I think not.

Damn. You're right. How the hell did I miss it?
Though to be fair the notches are the result of liberal snowflake soccer fans.

Exactly my thoughts, and the more the refs call these "soft" charges the more it encourages flopping.
